There are already several posts about Tier 1 for Mac, and I don't want to repeat the questions. Actually I'd like some feedback from TGC about it.

Is the problem porting to Mac the IDE or the compiler, or both?

For my use, if I have a command line compiler for Tier 1, and some way to launch the player using also command line would suffice, since you can configure apps like TextWrangler to work well with external tools.

That way, Mac users could start using Tier 1 without having to way for a full IDE.

As I posted before, Windows VM works well, but having something native would be much better.

TGC?

Thanks!

The IDE is a customised version of CodeBlocks. The base code for this is cross platform, however, changes have been made within the code that tie it into Windows, and as a result it will mean some alterations are required for us to get it running on Mac OS X.

The compiler also relies on certain Windows functionality, so that will also need modifications in order to function on Mac OS X.

While it is possible, porting the IDE and compiler may involve several weeks work and I'm not sure it's the priority just yet as we need to focus on fixing issues and making sure everything is stable. I expect we will get everything ported soon enough, but hard to say for sure when this will happen.

It's an interesting idea about using a command line option with TextWrangler. Will talk to the rest of the team about it and see whether that's a quicker option for now.

Glad to know you liked the idea of command line tools. Maybe it is just me, but having this available earlier would remove the pressure of having a full featured IDE running natively on Mac for a while...

Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, that would be awesome. I created an IDE on OSX for the Corona SDK and would love to add support for AGK.
