Hi again. As promised, here is a preview video of the work done so far on my FREE Mega Fantasy Pack. This will be a very large pack, and could take quite some time to finish, depending on my free time.

The pack itself is inspired by several mid to late 90s first person RPGs such as Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore, The Elder Scrolls Arena and Daggerfall, and Stonekeep, among others.
As work progresses on the pack, the video attached will be updated to reflect new additions.

This first video contains the multi-level Green Marble Temple segment set, along with matching static entities. The first part of the pillared brown brick segment set is also showcased, along with matching windows.
The video also shows the early work done on the first weapon in the pack, a dagger animated using bond1's fantasy hands.

VIDEO 1

The second video shows my progress on the mines set, as well as a quick preview of the jelly character, in this case, a Mustard Jelly. The Jelly animations are not all complete, and I'm using some 'placeholder' sounds for the time being. The video only shows its most basic AI.

VIDEO 2

The third video shows the new Sewers segment set, with the edited water shader. This also shows a new weapon, a crude club. As you might notice, some of the material indexes are incorrect at the moment, as can be seen near the end of the video as a metal pipe produces wood splinters when hit. Fixing that now.

VIDEO 3

Next is the preview of the castle set. Work on this part of the pack has advanced considerably since the creation of this video, but this should give you the basic idea. Also included is an early implementation of the sword and buckler weapon. The sword has two varying attacks and blocking with the buckler has been implemented.

VIDEO 4

The preview of the Fire and Ice Caverns!

Thank you, all!

@ science boy: Those are all some very cool suggestions for the pack, and definitely a nice challenge. Added!

@ erebusman & Leaning Objects To The Side: Thank you very much!

This weekend I will put some more work into a few more segments, test out a new theory on spell based attacks and start work on a slime / jelly character.

I will (hopefully) have a new update on Monday.

Thank you, Anayar!

I am aware that is a rather ambitious project, but I am very much committed to getting it done. I haven't done a serious game content collection in a while, since leaving my previous job, but it's something I love doing.

It will definitely take some time, but it shall be done! Aye!

If you still want to add additional Monsters to the list I would take into account a)the versatility and b) if they are allready available (or something similar). I suggest a "Basilisk" (a classic D&D monster which could also be used for a Scifi scenario), a Giant Slug (usable for "Weird Lab" or Sewer levels) and a Demon (usable for "Doom"-related and Horror settings).

Regarding your current list, the Goblin and Minotaur have allready been done for official MPs in very good quality and I have seen (although I don't think I have them) both an FPSC ready Beholder and Wolf model.

Undead are generally usable for a lot of genres as well as Jelly/Slime monsters. I am not so sure about the Necromancer and the Mimic though.

Regarding the clip: I like the dagger a lot, but it looks like you did change bond1's hand for a gloveless texture - is that right?

@ The Storyteller 01: thank you for the info. I will adjust the list to exclude the models already in existance and add some of your suggestions. I especially like the giant slug idea. Also, I haven't changed bond1's hand texture. I do believe that due to the low quality of the video it just appears that way.

Looking sweet. The character list sounds impressive too. From my experience, just make 1 character for the pack - characters take so much time.

@User

About the Beholder thats a funny thing....

I still have an FPSC game called DDGT, which stands for Dungeons&Dragons Gazer Test (Gazer is just another word for Beholder) and it also featured Errant AI's Beta Spell Kit . I downloaded the game back in 2009 and but I couldn't track down the thread where I got it

As for the Wolf, that model is part of starmind 001's Native American Pack: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&b=24&t=164907&p=1 but I never claimed that there is allready a jelly/slime monster available.

And I agree with Psycho Sam, a single character will be hard enough work.

Hi again, all. Thank you for the comments. I am currently browsing the forums from my phone, and just thought I would give a quick update. The Jelly character is now nearly completed, and I have also started modeling and testing of a fireball spell. Tonight I will try to complete them. Tomorrow I plan to start working on a mines segment set. Also, I have decided to add the beholder back into the list, but more towards the look of the gazers in Ultima Underworld. If the character models happen to take too long I will release them as a seperate add-on pack. Expect a new video update on Tuesday. Cheers!

That ocre Jelly looks great if yet a little flat

And forgive the stupid question - but how did you make it bleed green?

Thanks! Yes, it's still a bit flat. Working on the animations a bit to make it look a bit more globular.

For the green blood, I simply replaced the blood decal in its FPE file with a decal I made myself.

science boy & Josh Mooney: Thank you very much!

science boy, the jelly went rather quick due to me already having the model and basic rig from a previous experiment I did in Max. Glad you like it!

Josh, a gelatinous cube sounds like an awesome idea! I'll look into it as soon as I have a few more characters done.

Just an update, the jelly model is now less flat, due to me adjusting the sliding limbs in the ik chain, so no more jelly pancakes! Also, added a death animation.

I'll post a few screenshots tomorrow.

Thank you pajkoCGR!

I just noticed, though, that the support beams of the mine set have the grain of the wood in the wrong direction!

The UVW map must have rotated somehow during export...will fix that tonight.

Sorry for the delay in updates, everyone, but our ISP has gone slightly bonkers. My system gets disconnected every few minutes, so video uploads are nigh impossible at the moment. So now I have settled for the next best thing for the time being: screenshots!

Firstly, the fully rigged and as-of yet not-very-textured gazer.

Due to the quick placeholder texture I threw on I think it currently looks a bit like a Plasticine creation with paper eyes stuck onto it, but luckily it's only temporary

Next, a couple screenshots from my sewer set currently in progress.

Hopefully I can get a video up here again in the near future, so keep watching this space.

wow loving the gazer you do work fast and very excited to see it animated and hovering and roaming about,

i forgot if i never mentioned it before how about a funghi spore thingy a mushroom which shuffles on tentacles or roots and has spore attack, i think in dungeon master you get them and when killed you get a melon segment but as the others say you already have heaps on,

but you are tearing through this pack at an alarming rate, big respect to you vandaark your kicking ass

Thank you very much, science boy! Development of the pack has now started slowing down a bit as i move onto the more challenging modeling bits. Beholders, slimes and other somewhat amorphous creatures are relatively easy to rig and animate, but the real challenge comes in with animals and humanoids, which need a lot of work to make the movement look natural. After finishing the gazer's texture and animation, i will start working on more of the planned weapons.

Update:

Still having ISP problems, but work on the pack is continuing without a problem.

The sewers set is so far the largest of the sets included in the pack. Working on flowing sludgy water and spouting sewer pipes using bond1's animated shader at the moment, also started working on the club weapon, but having a slight texturing glitch that needs fixing.

I would like to see things you can stick onto segments, archways, pillars, enclaves, things that make flat walls more interesting. Also archways to make floor segments into bridges and causeways.
