[Coming Home - Action-Horror]

http://www.gamefront.com/files/21185116/ComingHomePreview.rar

Backstory

The S.S. Venus was the pride of the United Nations Space Fleet. It had everything a city would have and more. The last known communications between the S.S. Venus and Earth were 4 weeks ago. You're in the squad that's commissioned to find out what happened.

Developer's Notes

Coming Home was originally a project I started a while back, but I've given a mass revamp to. The game is an Action-Horror, meaning there's no (or little) ammo shortages and no health packs to worry about. The game follows a Task Force sent to board the S.S. Venus to find out what happened in the 4 weeks without communication, and why.

This game focuses more towards Scripting, rather than Modelling, as it's quite psychological. The game takes great influence from the Dead Space series, and as to avoid possible copyright claims, will be free of charge.

Looks pretty good =)

Try searching around in the Models and Media section here, or download the Cosmic Prophets Scifi packs - they are free and contain alot of great media your game will benefit from

Good job so far mate

A note to all - this is far from dead.

Lack of update is due to being buried with GCSEs.

well, I'm not saying it looks bad, but not even fraps can make it TOO dark. you see, by the looks of it, you're in a science lab/hospital/sci-fi chamber of some sort. the lights in a place like that, whatever it be, are not so dim as to leave 90% of the room in pitch blackness. if you want to make the room dark, okay, but use lightsources other than the ones on the wall that are made to light the room very well. also make sure to have absolutely no pitch blackness unless it's being casted by a shadow. for a room that dark, I might suggest a solemn laptop on a table in the corner or something casting a light that very dimly, faintly illuminates the whole room.

Not really possible for Fraps to make a video dark at all, it's probably your output settings, mp4 files tend to darken video quality. I suggest either wmv. Or change the ingame lighting cause it's pretty dark.

[UPDATE]

This has had a MAJOR revamp recently. I'e completely modified the story, re-written some scripts, re-designed levels, and complied a *NEW* Beta Test for everyone to try.

The Beta is SHORT, but is a small part of a level. Comments and Criticisms wanted!

Umm... Alright so i tried this new Beta and i must say, it was pretty scary. I love how you made them all jump out at the player like that! Nicely done! But what i didn't like was how DARK it was. There was lights, but they did not light up the level at all. And why is there blood everywhere? I understand that people were obviously killed and stuff, but there wouldn't be random blood splats on the walls. Also, there is like nothing in the level. I know it is a beta and all, but there are no entites or anything in there. I would change that immediately!

Thanks for the comments - I've always had a problem with damn FPSC lighting. I think maybe it's my monitor is brighter than everyone elses, but I will look into that.

I was thinking maybe I went OTT on the blood, thanks for helping my decision on that.

This is a VERY small part of what is quite a long (by FPSC standard) level. Speaking of adding entities, that has already been started. To be honest, I just wanted to know whether the game was scary enough to continue with
