AEGUL'S MOD

Hi Everyone,

I would like to introduce a new MOD I’ve been working on called Aegul’s Mod

Features: (Already Added So Far)

Third Person Shooter Mode – Any Character can be selected to be the 3rd person

Camera Collision Detection - So the camera doesn’t go through Walls and Ceilings

Camera Auto Adjust – Camera adjusts to the correct position if there is an obstacle between the Camera and Player (If there is a Static Object blocking your view)

Camera Object Detection - if any Dynamic Object is between Camera and Player blocking its view, the object becomes transparent so the Camera can still see the player

Climb onto Walls - Player can Jump up and Climb onto walls or railings (segments)

Climb up Ladders - Player can Climb up Ladders/Fences...Etc.

Bullet Tracers – Bullets flying around with Collision Detection causing damage to anything it hits

Health Bars – Animated Health Bars placed above each Entity showing their current Health status

Entity Info – Entities Name, Current Health, Weapon and Ammo shown above each Entity

Bullet-Time - Can slow down Time (Can also be used to dodge bullets)

Aim Assist Lock-on - Player can Lock on to Entity

Jet Pack – Player can use Jet Pack to fly around the scene

CSG Weapon - Player using the CSG weapon can cut through any walls and floors to make a pathway through one room to another

Driving Vehicles – Any Entity can be selected to be a Driveable Vehicle

Limb Hit Animation – Limb Collision Detection and Animation Hardcoded directly into the Source Code, so Entities react to being shot to specific area on the body

Camera View Type
Type 1: Camera follows behind Player
Type 2: Camera follows over Player’s shoulder
Type 3: Camera follows Player but is free to move around Player
Type 4: Camera follows Player from Birds Eye View

Videos showing some of the features listed above (Sorry for the low quality resolution)

More Videos coming soon…

Features: (To be added in the near future)

Ragdoll – Tweaks to allow ragdoll effect to imitate directional force
Water – Tweaks to allow multiple water planes of different shapes and sizes
Gravity Gun – Tweaks to allow variety of forces and to be useable on all types of entities
Dynamic Shadows – Real-Time Animated Shadows being drawn
Mini-maps – Map of area being shown with Player/Entities locations
Menu System – Additional menu options with scroller, drop down box, radio button…etc.
Seeking Missiles – Lock on to an Entity and all bullets/missiles will be directed to it
Bullet/Kill Cam – Camera will follow bullet and display a kill shot when hit
Limbs Disembowelments – Able to shoot/cut off entities limbs with weapons

A Demo of this Mod will be available next year January 2013 for users to Download and Test Out.

I would appreciate any comments and suggestions anyone might have.
Also any ideas on how to improve current features or any ideas of new features would be very helpful.
Thank you

Looks great. Particularly loved the climbing of walls and ladders. That was a nice touch to the video.

Best of luck with this.

Looks really nice. What version are you modifying?

Best wishes for this.

Addendum:

I looked at Uman's post below and I agree with him. I do have to say this mod is looking amazing.

Well done with this, I had the thought, while watching Video 1, of users creating games like the classic Tomb Raider games!!!!!!! [Well now you just need dual-wielding guns and backflips ^^ and of course side lockon while camera facing front]

VERY WELL DONE!!!

I hope you make something out of this, you deserve it!

Aegul,

Very impressive all round and a massive addition to FPSC. Its showing what FPSC should be all about. Player and Enemies after all its a Shooter.

You seem to have a very good grasp of what you are doing so as you've asked add some additional improvement to Enemies AI and you have the basis for a great FPS tool, without which you have very little except an empty world. I would swap eye candy bells and whistles for practical game play improvements like that any day.

I hope that FPSC R can match what is seen there.

In the mean time I would look forward very much to seeing the demo Mod finished and download and testing that out if you get it done.

Great Job. I hope you continue and I wish you very much success with your Mod. Excellent.

Frank just lost points by not being able to stick it. Good job on your part. I'm always amazed at someone who can do a back-flip from a standing position. Just like I'm amazed with this mod so far.

Well dang, congratulations on making me jealous! :p
Excellent work on this! As SC said, that's by far the best third person I've ever seen.

Just a question, which FPSC revision number does this use? I'm guessing r723.

Can't wait to try this out when it's released!

That is truely awesome that you have modified the sorce code and gotten all that stuff in the engine. Great job. Keep it up.

How does it do with custom characters and scenery? Would be willing to test it out when it is released for beta.

That is some pretty solid third person stuff. Are the Horizontal ladders entities or segments or both?

I’m using the latest Source Code available at the moment. Which is r723. And will continue to use the latest Source Code available to keep the Mod updated to the most recent updates

Yes, I’m afraid that’s true. I am completely new to FPS Creator and Darkbasic Pro. But absolutely love this engine. My favourite by far.

@ Uman
Quote: "You seem to have a very good grasp of what you are doing so as you've asked add some additional improvement to Enemies AI and you have the basis for a great FPS tool"

That is a great suggestion, which I haven’t put much thought into. I will take that on board and add it to my To-Do List. Keep ‘em coming

@ Bugsy
Quote: "Awesome mod man! Just what I've always wanted. tell me, can climbing be done in first person?"

Yes, all features (Climbing up Ladders, Hanging onto a Wall…etc) can also be done in 1st person mode. But since there is no custom animation for this at the moment, you will not see the player’s hands in motion. It would be either no hands or just holding a gun, so won’t look as good until animations are done for this

@ Pirate Myke

Quote: "That is some pretty solid third person stuff. Are the Horizontal ladders entities or segments or both?"

Since I don’t own that many model packs I would not know how well this Mod and all its features will react with custom characters and scenery. I guess once the Mod is release for testing, we will find out. However all features have been tested with ALL STOCK CHARACTERS and SCENERY, and seems to work fine

Ladders are entities. (some static and some dynamic)

@ Mr illusionest
Quote: "Just a question : can those bars above entities be hidden or they jst stay there for every NPC ?"

Yes. All features added can be toggled On or Off. Giving the user the option to choose what feature they would like to use and what they would like to appear on the screen

Thank you All for your Comments. I am new to the forum, and so my responses might be a little slow because, any Threads or Post I make needs to be checked by moderators first before they are place on the forum. This can take up to a few hours to even half a day. So please bear with me, it will not possible for me to respond straight away.

I haven’t had much time to work on this Mod so far, On and Off due to family and work commitments, but have manage to put in a good few hours per week in the last couple of months. And will continue doing so with any free time I have. (which isn’t too much to be honest)

Next Video will be on:
- Jet Pack
- CSG Weapon
- Driving Vehicles
- Limb Hit Animation
- Different Camera View Types (over shoulder, Birds Eye View...etc)

The Demo of the Mod in its Beta Stages will be available in a few weeks (Sometime in January 2013) for Testing purposes ONLY.

When a Final Stable Build is eventually made, the Mod (Full Version) will be released as a Freeware to All Users who wish to use it

@Aegul

Excellent work!!! This is by far the one of the best mods I've seen. This is what FPSC is all about.

how will it cost because I'm willing to pay? Will the user be able to disable wall climbing and switch between Third person and first person view in game?

Great stuff and looking forward to seeing more.

What about using the third person feature but setting the camera distance to -15 instead of what you currently have (I'm guessing 50-70?)

Also:
Quote: "Ragdoll – Tweaks to allow ragdoll effect to imitate directional force"

I have an idea on how to do this, hit me up by email

Feel free to steal the minimap feature from the community mod and fix it up for use in your mod.

You've got so much in this mod that it's surprising you're releasing it for free. A very generous contribution to the community.

Again, nice work

Definitely the best 3rd person seen yet, you dont mention any bugs this might have (if any).
I notice the character doesn't climb onto the ledge at the height of the ladder is this due to lack of an animation?

Nice mod and you have obviously kept yourself hidden till now

I was wondering if you would be willing to sell all or some parts of the source code?

The extremely stable looking third person (and camera) is what I'm looking forward to. January can't come soon enough. Over the shoulder cams would also allow for some good RE4, Deadspace, and Gears of War clones to be made.

Hi All,

Just got back from holiday a few days ago, so apologies for the late replies.
I have managed to put in some work while on holiday, and have so far done:

Ragdoll (80%)
Water (0%)
Mini-Maps (90%)
Seeking Missiles (50%)
Dynamic Shadows (0%)
Menu System (25%)
Bullet/Kill Cam (50%)
Limbs Disembowelments (50%)

I have been testing with custom characters. And have found as long as you use the Biped provided by The Game Creators website to any model, it should be completely 100% compatible.

Or if you wish to use your own biped or bone structure and still want to have the same animations then you will need to rename the limbs/bones of your character to match FPSC default limb numbers or names and assign them to each limbs/bones of you character accordingly.

Meaning:
limb1=Bip01
limb2=Bip01_Pelvis
limb3=Bip01_Spine
limb4=Bip01_R_Thigh
limb5=Bip01_R_Calf
limb6=Bip01_R_Foot
limb12=Bip01_L_Thigh
limb13=Bip01_L_Calf
limb14=Bip01_L_Foot
limb20=Bip01_Spine1
limb21=Bip01_Spine2
limb22=Bip01_Spine3
limb23=Bip01_Neck
limb24=Bip01_R_Clavicle
limb25=Bip01_R_UpperArm
limb26=Bip01_R_Forearm
limb27=Bip01_R_Hand
limb34=Bip01_L_Clavicle
limb35=Bip01_L_UpperArm
limb36=Bip01_L_Forearm
limb37=Bip01_L_Hand
limb38=FIRESPOT
limb46=Bip01_Head
limb55=body

But if advance users wish to use their own model, their own biped and their own animations, I have added a way to incorporate this by adding a .fpi file that will transfer all animations and limb numbers to the player, so all you have to do is add the animation ‘sequence frames’ and ‘limbs numbers’ to the .fpi file provided.

After some research I have found out that most of FPSC model packs have characters with FPSC’s default Biped loaded, so all of these model packs should work fine. Below is a list showing a few

Scifi – All Characters and Weapons
WW2 – All Characters and Weapons
Egyptian Characters – All Characters
Fantasy Characters – All Characters
Fantasy Pack – All Characters
History Pack – All Characters
Model Pack 4 – All Characters
Modern Day – All Characters
Modern Day 2 – All Characters
Science Pack – All Characters
Tropical Pack – All Characters

That’s a great idea. Thank you. Will add that in.

Yes I am. Have been programming for many years in All kinds of different programming languages C, C#, C++, C Shell, OpenGL, Eiffel, Java, Javascript, Pascal, VBC, PHP, Perl, SQL, HTML,…etc. And now can Add Darkbasic Pro to the list

I notice the character doesn't climb onto the ledge at the height of the ladder is this due to lack of an animation?”"

There are a few bugs that have pop up every now and again. I think I have fixed most (if not all) that I have found. But I’m sure once the Demo is released the bug reports will be coming in thick and thin. So will know much more from other users once the Demo is out

And Yes, due to lack of animation available the character doesn't climb onto the ledge at the height of the ladder

I do apologise but I prefer not to give out my email address, but you are more than welcome to release your character for my mod. You will be able to test it out when I release the demo in a few days.

I’m sorry but I will not be selling my codes. My goal is not to make money out of this Mod but a fun hobby to express my own ideas and indulge my gaming fantasy.

However once I do eventually release my Final Build of Aegul’s Mod (whenever that may be), I will release my code as an open-source so other users may take over and take it to another level.

The Demo of my Mod will be released in the next few days, for those of you who wish to help with the testing of this Mod in its Beta stage. Thank you

@Dragon slayer- Actually New Orleans. It's more the unreported murder capitol of the world. I've had friends in the coroners office and they told me some craaaazy stuff.

On topic-The model has been sent and Bugsy will be rigging/animating it soon. I too can't wait to see it in action, and Aegul putting it out for free is awesome. Great show of community spirit Aegul!

This mod has a lot of awesome features and I see a ton of potential! Some of the features remind me of that Enter the Matrix video game for PS2 (specifically the lock-on and bullet-time)

I'm counting the beta of this as an early birthday present to myself
Can't wait to try it out!
