SCROLL DOWN BELOW VIDEO FOR DETAILS

THREAD HIGHLIGHT VIDEO

I have started to use my YouTube channel a lot lately, and felt creating a thousand threads to simply share it with fellow forum dwellers would be a bit uncanny, I figured having a thread based just on mine alone would also be a bit selfish, and selfish I am not!

So in a forum spirit, and seeing that there is not one of these threads [Of recent]... I decided I would create one and apply a few basic rules...

These rules will be appended to as new rules are suggested and approved by a majority vote...

~ Videos MUST be of your own work, not a friends
~ Video must consist of something you created using tools and assets you purchased through the TGC store
~ Please try not to post anything that violates the above rules
~ If you used the assets bought here in another environment tool then maybe just maybe it will be ok to show it, but in the spirit of this forum, Please try to keep it DBC/DBP/FPSC/GDK/AGK/FDE related
~ Will be nice to also mention the various Tools, Assets packs and Plugins if any that were used in the video material
~ Both Showcase / Demo and Tutorials are welcome
~~ Pending... [Appended rules are marked with two ~~ lines]
~~ [optional] If you have a WIP for the video related, be sure to add it to the post next to the video

I hope that this will also help to inspire and spark discussion.

Post away!

In case there are new users on here or users unfamiliar with the YouTube embed code... start by typing [youtube] in lover case letters with the square brackets and then in between you would place the code for your YouTube Share video... So say the Share link is http://youtu.be/OqEVEZHZhAo grab "OqEVEZHZhAo" that part in the case of a long URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqEVEZHZhAo again grab everything after the = sign... but using the share code helps make this easier as it is always after the /... once you have this, place it between the opening YouTube block and then close it off with [/youtube] to make it look like this:

[ youtube]OqEVEZHZhAo[ /youtube]
[remove the spaces though]

I hope this helps and it is nicer if they are embedded as then we do not have to open multiple Tabs, and Mobile users get an easier browsing experience by slimply tapping the embedded clips and seeing them playback...

EDIT Corrected the YOUTUBE embeds example
EDIT Added the Highlight video!

My first video for now to get this started

I made this last year and was just a quick test of DarkPHYSICS! with DBP!

Another more recent work

My project for the ADG 2nd Anniversary Competition 2012 which will see itself through to a full product! DBP + DarkPHYSICS + STYX + 3DWS

Another recent video from just yesterday

This was a request video from another TGC Forum user, I had another request for a 3DWS EEV by I believe Juggernaut, but not sure where that thread went haha, I will make it soon though so not to worry... 3DCrafter 9 was used in this video

And my final entry for the day

I made this last night before sleeping and improved it slightly earlier and made a video to prove to a friend that I had made it lol... We were discussing game environments and I mentioned that I had been meaning to create a sort of benchmark or just an environment made of natural forrestry and so here you have its early days more of this to come! I used Plant Life and DBP in this as well as 3DWS

Matty H - haha yeah I have a lot occupying my time, I make a few things here and there and now aim to get videos of pretty much everything I make onto youtube...

Oooo that video is soooo making me want DDYN soon... I take it you were using LIMB commands a lot and is the ragdoll system based on limbs or some form of skeleton/bones? would be handy if you made a video showing how to rig it... Though I am still yet to work with animations and A.I.

Thank you for sharing your work on here, I hope to see more from you and others soon!

I'll contribute.

I am the master of failed projects, but I am pleased with how far I got in DBP with Abeyance, sure it needed a lot more work. I guess for that I'll post up a video of the last demo of the game in DBP:

Tools used to make the content. Dark Basic Pro with 2 plugins, Cloggy's D3D and Sparky's Collision DLL. The maps were made in MapScape, characters in Hexagon, animated in MilkShape3D, though badly might I add. Music was taken from royalty free sources on the net.

The main purpose of this thread please use the youtube tags though, spoils the fun having to open a new tab...

Also please keep them TGC Product related anything game specific is good too < Vote on adding this to the rules [7 votes to get it added] EDIT Game development related I might add, unless it is showing something specific to game design...

@Wolf
I found the sounds in Shavra quite irritating, especially the footsteps.
Euthanasia was the best by far, I actually found it quite scary especially the whispering sounds. I like how you did some voice audio for that one instead of writing on the screen.
I think that game has potential, I'd like to see you add some mechanics for strategic kills like ways to lure zombies into traps and set them on fire. I think this would work well as they are quite hard to kill and ammo is scarce. It would be a very interesting survival-horror game if you were required to plan how to despatch the enemies in an area or distract them so you can sneak past.
For example you could find a rag, empty bottle, lighter fluid and a lighter in different parts of the level and combine them to make a molotov cocktail. So first of all you have to be quiet and sneak around to find the ingredients, then lure a group into the same area, maybe you throw throw something onto the floor below that make a loud noise (like another empty bottle), they all rush in and you throw the lit molotov burning them all to death!
If you're spotted sneaking around or just don't want to do it that way you'll have to fight them off with whatever weapons you have and hope you don't alert too many at once; then you could go and find the molotov indredients to use it later on in the game.

Shh... you're pretty.

Another video I made on YouTube, not a TGC product, but perhaps useful to some, I tested the water for creating video tutorials a couple of years back and despite it being a successful attempt I've not made anymore. Perhaps I should one day.

This tutorial is a UV Mapping tutorial done in 3D Coat. It currently has over 12,000 views, which I didn't expect to be honest.

I do refer to the viewers as 'darling-sweethearts' though...

RUCCUS! That was awesome!

Still waiting on a vote... a few show of texts lol to include game development related videos... add them back in for now though... your content looks very inspiring!

But yeah again... the rule to be appended... Game Development Related Content created by You!

So this could be a video relating to using say Blender to create animations to then be imported into DBP/GDK/AGK for example... or how to create content in Sketchup and bring it into DBP and adding lighting...etc...anything similar to what Sepp posted too...

I think this thread is taking shape bring on the motivation!

Well before I edited the message I had a bunch of videos from my 3D animation work, so that's not really connected to game dev except extremely loosely in the fact that video games tend to include 3D animation nowadays .

Recently for a Dbpro challenge I made a thunderstorm. I kinda liked how it turned out and so developed it a little further. I had some trouble with the video compression, it lost some sound and visual clarity.

Made with Dbpro, Sparkies particles,Plant life,Treemagik, with royalty free textures and sounds.

This is something else I have been playing with lately, is is a day night cycle and the trees are placed using a color map.

Made with dbpro, blitz terrain, treemagik, plantlife,WGLFX Perlin noise plugin

I'm not a complete idiot -- Some parts are just missing.

Here's a quick test of camera and character control with animation handling in DBpro.

Modeling and animations in Blender, though it's all simple and very placeholder as the focus was on testing the functionality of the code.

no, key framed in blender and managed in dbpro with my own handling code. it works pretty well but the animations themselves need a lot of work. i've added in a landing animation to finish out falling/jumping. i still want to implement transitions between animations as currently it just shifts from one to another.

It's not strictly TGC related, seeing as I mostly work in Unity or Flash now, but this project was originally being made in DBP a couple of years ago, some people might remember it, but it's changed a fair bit since then anyway! It's just an early-ish video I made of the new, Unity version of Grim (Link to the old thread) that Deathead and I are working on at the moment:

@Mr Handy, now that's not even remotely game development related! xD

EDIT: If anyone's actually interested in following Grim, I'm posting updates and things about it on IndieDB fairly often: Grim on IndieDB.

@Blobby, that looks pretty cool. I see you've got your mitts on Unity3D pro, which makes me jealous. Is the game going to be similar to Conker's Bay Fur Day? There's things about the video that remind me of it.

Also, it seems there's a few of us from the DBPro community using Unity3D these days. Mind you, it's a useful toolset. Some of the add-ons can be pretty useful as well.

@Seppuku, cheers! Unfortunately, I only have the trial right now, I waited a while before redeeming the 4 trial! I'm thinking about attempting a kickstarter to raise some money to get the pro version, but we'll see. I'm glad the Conker influence is apparent too, it's a pretty big inspiration! Are you planning on finishing Abeyance in Unity? That was looking really good last time I saw it!

@MrValentine, thanks - I'll add the link

Yep, Abeyance will be done in Unity3D, I had already started it in there. But I am currently working it out so I can make use of Playmaker in the project. I can see it being very handy. Since getting my new PC though, I have kinda been bogged down by gaming, but I've done some development this week. I do have another project I'm working on in Unity 3D as well. But it's not ready for any kind of announcement - I'd rather get it to a stage where I can show I can complete it, before I make any commitments to it.

Also, I am going to be upgrading to Carrara 8 Pro (I've got 5 Pro) so I can make use of its animation tools for Unity3D (version 8's FBX exporter supports animations, whilst 5 only supports bones) so I can animate my character better, I don't get along with so well with Unity3D's animation tools.

Anyway, this is where I got I got up to in Unity 3D with Abeyance. Needs more polish.

I might give the Pro trial a go when my project is futher down the line, just so I can see how it can be improved graphically.

PS: I freaking love Conker, so keep us posted on this one.
