Welcome!

Since some of you are around here for quite a while you might be familiar with some of my rather dark work. Even though I'm a really upbeat kinda guy my games where really depressing back in the day:
Titles like "Missing in Action" had hallways filled with rather graphic corpses, Euthanasia had a hilariously delusional political response saying " promotes inner aggression of children. I am not surprised that such a game encouraging forms of bullying. " " aim to introduce the culture of death", and back in 2009 I was working on an almost comically grim and sinister game about a guy trying to rescue his girlfriend from a snuff-porn gang.
Now, some of you might expect me to make a pack about "Hell" and the Underworld to be dark and demented and let me get this out of the way right away: It won't be.

It will have some eeriee things but it will have a more mythical/fantasy tone.

I was promising this pack a bunch of days ago but ...the weather was great here so I only started now.

So here is a version of the gothic pillar from the previous pack with creepy faces in it. A gazing pillar... the pillars have eyes.
I also added some alternative versions of the windows from the first pack. That will be about everything I recycle fro this pack, don't worry

to get this rolling I made some little props to fill in shelves and on top of tables. To be fair, these look a bit boring on these shots, I'll get some pretentious toolbag shots tomorrow so you can see all of them.

...and this is the demoness. I called her Larry.

If you think the hair looks slapped on. Its because it is. I might give it a little finetuning later.
Well, whoever would like to rig her to a skeleton: Feel free to mail me about it, I'm willing to pay a small amount for the help
(because everything I can attach bones to is a box)

If I add further characters I just rig them to the default FPSC Skeleton. I just couldn't do it for her because I really want her to do something with these wings

So yeah! New pack on the workbench!

Feel free to leave a comment or post some suggestions/requests

I just hope that you will doing a better job than the one you did for your previous packs because they didn't convinced me very well.
Only the giant mural statue and enclosed corridors ( Even if adding enclosed corridors as entities was a weird choice ) was beautiful to me, also it was a real pleasure to see that giant statue beautifying my level.

But at least, you don't sell crate models ( should I say "cube" rather than "crate" ? I think so ) like certain money-thirsty people here dared to do it.
And because of this, even if I'm dissapointed by your packs, I can only encourage you to persevere into this way.

Thanks! Yummy...eh?

@RelMayer: Dude, have some concideration for the people who reply to your posts! You can't just add a new sentence via edit every few seconds

Now, about the flaws you pointed out before the great cthulhu made them vanish in a mighty edit: You are absolutely right! ...mostly.

There shouldn't be any missing textures. There is one mesh that appears white in editor for some reason but shows up perfectly fine Ingame.

There is some stretching and other flaws going on on various meshes. I know that of course but I decided to keep them in the pack anyway and drop the price by more than half of what I initally had in mind. (an alternative would have been redoing or fixing them and release a stellar quality pack for the full price but... ahm... you know... ) So I decreased the price! ...and someone might still like these props! Better than release less content.

I modeled that corridor closed and added an open version aswell with matching pillars. You can use a closed one as a ceiling I do that in Spyra.

Now about that you are not willing to bet that this pack will be better... well... how much do you bet against it?

Bottom line: If you are really that disappointed by the pack just shoot me a mail I'll refund you You're my favorite french dude afterall.

Quote: "Previous packs"
: I published only one pack so far. Except for the cyberpunk pack in co-op with bugsy. ...but thats a different genre.

Quote: "But at least, you don't sell crate models ( should I say "cube" rather than "crate" ? I think so ) like certain money-thirsty people here dared to do it."

Hey! If anyone wants to sell sand in the desert he can do so. Even though its probably not very lucrative.
I'm also not getting rich over selling these packs (certainly not with my "business strategy"). Thats really not my motivation. If it was, I would make "the zombie apocalypse media pack" or the "demented asylum stuff pack".

Quote: "And because of this, even if I'm dissapointed by your packs, I can only encourage you to persevere into this way."

I certainly will! Thanks for the encouragment.

Wolf,
Ive removed my lines because after reading those a second time, i found them a bit ( for not to say a lot ) rude/harsh, so I'm sorry if i offended you and i apologize.

Overall, the pack was great, it's mostly those textures stretches which made me feel bad.

Quote: "If you are really that disappointed by the pack just shoot me a mail I'll refund you"

Don't worry, I'm currently fixing those and applying shaders for my personnal use and the result looks amesome ( see attached ).

Quote: "You're my favorite french dude afterall."

Heh that's nice, you're a cool guy, too, and because of this I feel bad twice for being rude about your model pack.

I think as a customer, I shouldn't yell so much about the quality of a pack, because I have little-to-no experience in modelling ( I can't create a model from scratch, but only modifying those ), I'm mostly a texturist with a little knowledge in uv-mapping...

Sorry again.

Excuse my grammar errors, I'm French.

Ive yet to see anything at fpsc that is expensive, everything is dirt cheap, you should of tried making games 10 years ago, you either made it yourself or you didn't have it. People are spoiled today in everything as well.

I like the theming in these, good to see content creators influencing and working towards shared visions.

Don't lose sight of the underworld theme, top of the pillars looks great, lose the bricks below it and go for the rock look, Id love to see these made so users can mix and match with the cave set I see planed by rolfy.

Id also like to see large pieces or building blocks over daggers and nik naks, you can get them from many places and slot them in, but structures built for fpsc is a different matter as they have to be built with the engine in mind, so bear in mind which has more value.

be glad there is content at all.

I pulled my pack as I felt I was asking too much for 3 weeks worth of work to add more content.Well not any more expect to pay more now with extra content, and if that sounds blood thirsty to you, I blame you.I am going to start a trend on here that each and every privately sold media pack sells for 20 dollars or more, and I hope every content creator follows.

So no you don't get to run of your mouth at people who are supplying you their hard work at next to nothing prices.

I Hope content creators sees this and start asking more.Because lets be honest our media is being raided by people here that are only here for the content, we asking far far far too cheap, for our time and effort and apparently people are ungrateful there is content at all and at that free.

if you not happy go and make the content your self at the same quality you don't get to moan about some one else taking the initiative

I also received your pictures

You didn't offend me, again, your criticism was pointing out some flaws that really do exist and I appreciated it. You did however have a slightly rude tone but edited it so no harm done.

Quote: "Don't worry, I'm currently fixing those and applying shaders for my personnal use and the result looks amesome ( see attached ).

Looks really good! I remember you asked about releasing shader updates for modelpacks. Well: you have green liight for mine if you ever want to offer it for download

Quote: "I'm mostly a texturist with a little knowledge in uv-mapping..."

So you know how tedious UV-Mapping can be Thats where some more lazy elements in my work come from. Pack and gamewise. :=

@fallen one: Making a demon/hell related pack came up three times while making the other pack and it opens up for a lot of different models. So yes! If I would not concider the community there would be no need to post WiP Threads like this.

Quote: "Don't lose sight of the underworld theme, top of the pillars looks great, lose the bricks below it and go for the rock look, Id love to see these made so users can mix and match with the cave set I see planed by rolfy."

Sure! I add you a second version of this right away Yeah! Rolfys cave pack looks fantastic. So you suggest some architecture that is built in rocks/ can be merged with natural cave constructs? Sounds fantastic but also a bit demanding

Quote: "Id also like to see large pieces or building blocks over daggers and nik naks, you can get them from many places and slot them in, but structures built for fpsc is a different matter as they have to be built with the engine in mind, so bear in mind which has more value.

I have some really big stuff in mind

@BlueFox:

Quote: "Nice work, Wolf. Love the wing demoness!"

@teabone

Thanks!

Ah come one! You are the DaVinci of segments here and you are telling me you didn't feel like your work is worth the price?

Quote: "So no you don't get to run of your mouth at people who are supplying you their hard work at next to nothing prices."

His first comment was not that hostile and again, I do feel the points he made where vaild Yes, the comment geared towards Blue Fox was unnecessary but hey: its the internet

Quote: "we asking far far far too cheap,"

Thats actually true. While I feel like I'm asking a fair price for my media, Rolfys Demons or EAI's Packs are practically give-aways.
A single lowpoly, game ready demon character like rolfys could be sold for 100 USD anywhere else.
I'm familiar with most 3D content websites and yes, we have unbeatable prices here. However, I don't think that therefore people are not allowed to criticise our work. I often oppenly ask for it. What matters here, is tone, and there is no more problem so lets not start an all out war on my W.i.P thread

Quote: "20 dollars or more"

This pack will probably fall in this price cathegory It will have more content than the last one.

...and wizard! Please sell your modelpacks, regardless of what you charge. I heavily rely on your stock media update packs for all my non-fantasy projects and would like to see more

@Disturbing13:

Thank you

i do agree that there are many, many, many great official model packs for sale at a very cheap price. (i have purchased a lot of them ) the prices are insanely cheap for the amount of things you get and also the great quality. Artists such as Rolfy and EAI could ask a lot more for their packs but i'm not sure they would sell as many if you ask $100.00 for a single character. (I am probably wrong though)

All i know is that you guys and gals(willow ) do a great job on these packs and i am never disappointed in the work and i am greatful that you sell these packs at a very affordable price so i can pursue my hobby of game making.

keep up the great work everybody and i will keep buying.

yes I to agree with this about the models and prices. this is cheap compare to other websites. I have bought other models and made them fpsc ready and even that's a lot work. the time they take to put into these models are amazing. you have look at it this way artist would charge a lot for a painting but they also make a living off this. the hours they spend add up. a 3d modeler can take up to 10 hours on a character and pay rate for $10 to $15 an hour. this is like any job in the world. so when they do it for free even if it's just a box or two we need to appreciate what they do.

one thing that make not want to buy from a 3d modeler is a bad attitude. even a high price 3d model is not that bad. lol

that what I like about wolf and the reason I would like to work with him on some custom models. I have work with some 3d modelers and payed them well for their work.for one model I payed for the price was above the $20 mark. but like good art I will be willing to pay for such great work.

all in all we both as a 3d modeler and a 3d model buyer need to show good attitude together.

RealMayer is not a bad boy, he's just a little beast (shame!)
He loves Fps Creator, he loves to Participate, His thoughts goal sometimes beyond.
Otherwise it is a productive member (shaders) at home and sometimes it helps us a lot.
It Involved a bit of our project pack (http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=205300&b=24) but it feels a little unnecessary as the futuristic about the pack Does not like him much.
But my team in other project Ideas that pack more corresponderont icts taste and I hope to see many Participate.

In general I am a big fan of your creations / your games, I'm a fan of games 'grungy' and scifi-grungy, and I hope you continue to create beautiful patterns and games (even demos)!

Friendships!

Are you annoyed of all the praise sometimes? Sorry for annoying you all the time, but you did a great job again and again. If I could model like you, I would ...(I did not know a good comparison). Another wonderful pack and again I can not buy it. If anytimes I have a job after all the school and university days, I will buy your packs and also a lot of others. Hope this is soon

And if there is a person which think it can be done better, ignore this guy. I always hear it as a scripter:"oh this is not working" or "hey can you add this". Anybody want the impossible from you and if you do it, it is not enough!

But at the end of the day it only count if you think you do a great job and you do!

Thanks in advance(my futur ego)

@Wolf

I hear what you saying Love the whole davinci segment thing, just remember I am not nearly that good I want to be better, and I think, it's what you are also striving for.

Just sad that only 1 person has bought the latest segment pack, that is sad.But really, doesn't bother me at all

As for criticizing, there is a fine line between, commenting and giving helpful advise as to spiteful comments, more than often the object is to troll then actually give, feedback.

Quote: "Are you annoyed of all the praise sometimes? "
Just just means you doing some thing right and you taking it in the right direction, all feedback is equally welcomed, and the best of the best takes with joy negative feedback to a point remember that fine line.

Wolf has done a great job and will continue to do so with positive feecback and support.

As for the stock media, will see in the future.

You're welcome! Remember that you can always suggest stuff for the pack

No! To be honest: Its always nice to see people enjoying your work and to share it with likeminded people. However, whenever somebody posts something like "awesome work" I would really like to know what exactly it is he thinks of as awesome And more importantly, and this goes especially for my gameprojects: What isn't awesome yet

Quote: "Sorry for annoying you all the time, but you did a great job again and again."

Oh yes! The unfathomable agony of positive feedback will kill me someday Thanks a lot

Quote: "Hope this is soon "

Be careful what you wish for

Quote: " I always hear it as a scripter:"oh this is not working" or "hey can you add this". Anybody want the impossible from you and if you do it, it is not enough!"

Yeah! I often get that too... usually from younger people who want something they saw in a recent Triple-A title. Thankfully, I can always reply with "I don't do scriptrequests"

Also, feel free to take a look at my game Spyra, once its released...it will be the perfect example of "how not to script". You might get a good laugh out of it

Quote: "But at the end of the day it only count if you think you do a great job and you do!"

Thanks

Well, yes and no. I want to be better but keep my workflow. I model very fast and take as much time for models I do know as I did when I first started. I know I could be perfecting single models and spend hours on them and they would be a lot better. Especially texture wise. But that would be a chore rather than fun.

Quote: "
Just sad that only 1 person has bought the latest segment pack, that is sad.But really, doesn't bother me at all"

Really? :S I don't even know you had a pack up for sale. Where can I get it? I'm sure your kind of structures will be in a much higher demand once reloaded is out.

Quote: "As for criticizing, there is a fine line between, commenting and giving helpful advise as to spiteful comments, more than often the object is to troll then actually give, feedback. "

True! Its also a matter of what to point out. I encourage everyone to criticise my work, it just gets useless and rather pointless if you do it like I'm one of the professionals from Polycount. I am not and my work does not reach their level of perfection.

Quote: "Wolf has done a great job and will continue to do so with positive feecback and support."

Likewise and thanks ! And I can only encourage anyone who is interested in this pack to post little requests of what you would like to see in it

Well! The game creators will have a say in this so I can't promise anything. ...you pervert!

And now Update time:

As first you can see some more elaborate structural pillars.
I know the background segments dont fit at all. Imagine them being in a more pseudo-egyptian-demonic temple are with a lot of glyphs on the wall

No Shaders

Shaders

This does not look hellish at all with Spyras Skybox in the background. Imagine that cross in the middle of a demoncity and a vast subterranean hell-landscape in the background.

All thanks to rolfy for the skybox, by the way

Comments are welcome! I'll post some renders later

There is a skybox download attached to the first post of this thread that might suit you better

In fact I had envisioned it to be as you have it, with a Temple/Altar in the centre of the scene.

I am listening to what others say in here and thinking it would be a great idea to make our packs match somewhat, I could send you any base rock textures I create if you want this. I have fallen a bit behind recently as I was moving house but expect to get back on board with it this week.

All right! I could make some structural tie ins or buildings carved in rock with that I'd be up to it! It would be great

Here is a little update! Chain-pillar-mineralorb structures!

Here are some renders of the small objects I presented in the first post.

That mirror might come with a tutorial on how to make it have "real" reflections

That is some gorgeous work Wolf. I'm just amazed when you post these pictures. I just can't imagine how one would even begin to UV some of the more intricate pieces. Great work

Fantastic work, Wolf. Those last two pictures weren't creepy at all - you must be slipping

The block and chains immediately reminded me of the Devil Tarot

The chains slab could used to hold parts of a floor or causeway, or to make a suspension bridge, its worth playing around with that theme.

To be honest, a lot of it is textured in a very straightforward and quite "lazy" way. If you model yourself and you would like to know, I can show you. Just mail me about it

@rostradamus: Thank you!

@fallen one: Interesting bridge your brain made there to these old cards. My favorite image is "the magician" actually
But thats offtopic:
Quote: " its worth playing around with that theme."

Chains are a major "selling point" for Kasseyus Dungeon Pack so I won't add any free hanging ones to my pack. However, more chained structures and especially a bridge of some sort are indeed things I might add

@elbow: Your nick backwards spells "woble" ...which is a really funny word. But that aside:
Quote: "Fantastic work, Wolf. Those last two pictures weren't creepy at all - you must be slipping "

Thanks a lot! And yes! Now that I'm doing a pack thats actually about hell (among other things) its really not scary.

********

I recently made this "Altar" of sorts. Sadly, the texture turned out to be a little "hard to read" as the 3D artists call it. I toss it in the pack anyway. The specular map looks quite fine on the marbleparts, me thinks:

More to come! Comments are welcome.

That also would interest me! If you can also sent me a mail

your models bring my old Indianer Jones feeling back. Even I just like modern settings, your models look great. The have a wonderful expression. Something between magic and egyptien style.

Wolf I Admire Your Works.
But Specially This Time I Admire That "Skinny Woman Model", Could You Make Her Hair So That The Front Hair Hides Her Face Or Something, If Possible. She Seems So Great For My Horror Game.
And How Much You Want For That.

Alright! Prepare to be underwhelmed

That pretty much catches the vibe of these, yes Glad you like them!

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.

Yes, I could do that, but so far I don't have anyone to rig it (and possibly animate it) yet. That means that I might not have that model in the pack.

I don't want to be stereotypical, but with "hair in her face" you mean like your typical asian ghost girl? LINK

Quote: "And How Much You Want For That."

Nothing. But like I said, I don't know if I'll have that character in the pack. I would charge 5 Dollars if you want that kind of modification to any other female character.

I had some time to add a few more models to the pack:

Thorned Spiral Pillars! (sounds cool) add a little to the more "cthulhu" -esque assets.

This giant gemstone holding "pantheon" thingie here has been textured a bit lazily. I might release this one as a freebie, I see if it suits the pack in the end or not.

And this final asset (outside of the gemstone chandelier I did not yet mention) is a solid gold ceiling prop that instanly adds some interesting archiecture and shadows to a large room. Its best with active shaders.

Feedback is welcome!

@Takeze: I have, but none of them are rigged (so they aren't animated.) I take requests, you can view my conditions here. LINK

Packs coming along nice, but a few crits. The last image, the ceiling decoration, the base going to a triangle looks odd, it would be better going to a squared base, otherwise how does it hold itself up if it doesnt have a pillered base, it would get kicked and bits would snap off. Id also keep to the same pallete, the sandstone looks off and not in keeping with the rest of the pack. It loses its underworld theme.

Good point! The idea was that it should be a really large metal construction hanging from the ceiling. However: You never make rooms this big in the (current) FPSC so I can see why you think it is held up on the floor. It is supposed to be held by the ceiling. And the spiky end could be used to impale something or just cast interesting shadows.

If you would like to use it on the floor you could just turn the entire thing around. That way the stable base would be on the floor and the triangulated end would look upward.

What sandstone? These segments are not included if thats what you mean I'm sorry, I did not yet come around to make the segment sets for this pack. If you mean that thing holding the pink crystal....well, yeah! It looks a bit awkward.

Phew, seems like it's been a bad decision to browse the forums so sporadically lately. Missing out on all this eyecandy can't be too healthy (altho' the fresh air is, probably).

Lovely work on these props, the altar's my favourite so far.

Bethesda better hires you for the dungeons of the next Elder Scrolls - exploring huge dungeons with your style + the usual Elder Scrolls'ery would be pretty amazing.

Hey unimansoftent!

I dont know. It does not have all that much content yet so to give you a vague idea: This summer.

-Wolf

Update:

Hey guys! I don't really have much to update this, just these couple of 5 minute models. I know that they are insanely simplistic from a mesh-technical point of view because I really made them while watching a show without much of a concept. I gotta be honest with you there.
I almost scratched them but saved them with a decent texture set.

They are 1 massive rock table with a clear and a marked texture
1 little crystal-light-pole.
An arch kinda thing
A large temple building. This could be really cool if you integrate it in your level...have things reach the different heights of the building.

Yeah, the screenshots are a little underdeveloped aswell...but hey! they should just show the models.
