For those who want to use CodeKeeper instead of DarkEDIT, maybe sometiems you have encountered problems trying to run it and such, so here's a small troubleshooting guide to install it correctly. I'm doing this in a plain Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 3 installation and DirectX 9.0c. Maybe in Windows 98 or XP it will need more or less files, so let me know .

INSTALLING CODEKEEPER

First of all, download it:

Version 1.6
http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com/?m=download&fi=3f098c1794b4b6.98540638

Version 1.4
http://www.underwaredesign.com/popup.php?file=restricted/CodeKEEPER/CodeKEEPERv1_4.zip

Here are the files CodeKEEPER might ask you for:

COMCT332.OCX
http://www.zerohack.it/downloads/components/comct332.zip

COMDLG32.OCX
http://www.zerohack.it/downloads/components/comdlg32.zip

TABCTL32.OCX
http://www.zerohack.it/downloads/components/tabctl32.zip

Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime
http://download.microsoft.com/download/vba6/Utility/1/WIN98/EN-US/vbrun60sp3.EXE

MSCOMCT.OCX - In Windows XP might ask you for this one (Thanks to Osiris for the info )
http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/apps/RunTimes/MSCOMCT.zip

RICHTX32.OCX - In Windows XP might ask you for this one (Thanks to Osiris for the info ...again )
http://www.zerohack.it/downloads/components/richtx32.zip

=================================================================

Be sure to put the OCX files where you extracted CodeKEEPER and install the VB6 runtime. After that, it should work.

ADVANCED USERS: If you know where is your system folder in windows (careful with confusing System and System32 from Windows ME and higher, as they don't mean the same in 98), you can place those OCXs there, and it will work too. Bonus advantage, programs that requite these files will have them ready there for using. Do not ask about this if you're not an advanced user and know what you're doing and what I'm talking about.

If I missed something here, or it asks for other files, let me know .

I hope this's useful!

About those files from www.zerohack.it...

I hope they're the official slightly-dated Microsoft 100%-redistrubitable-for-all-versions-of-Windows files, rather than some uploaded from someone's version of XP or whatever, because sometimes you can wreck 95 and 98 installations if you put in files from newer systems... [shudder]...

Oh yeah, and good job so far

(P.s... on v1.6, what the hell does the '¬' button next to the minimize (_) button do???)

Blanky: The files are Windows 98 I think so it's fine to use them as long as they don't replace newer ones if they're going to be in the system folder. About your second question.. mm I'll have to figue it out, might take a day or two, will post what I found

Osiris: Well, you must put all of the OCX files there where the CodeKEEPER.EXE file is, in other terms, the folder where you extracted CodeKEEPER. Once this's done, double click the Visual BASIC 6.0 Runtime and it must work... else, copy all of those OCX files to your system folder in windows as long as they don't replace newer ones.

It loads up, does every thing except compiles and excutes... Seemed like a good ide but its lame that it needs all these files, they should come with the program...

Yep, they don't, and that's why I made this post I could make the ZIP with the files and all but I need authorization from the author

One thing that bugs me that if it doesn't compile I'm not informed as to why... Like I don't get any syntax errorsm is there any way I can?

Why would you make this a sticky if for a good amount of people, the stupid program doesnt compile. It wont compile on mine, or Anime Blood, figure that one out and maybe it will "stick"

You mean this? (I have the spanish translation of DB though, but it detects it, look)

I don't know other people but this sounded rude... anyways, hace you checked CodeKEEPER has the DB path correct? look, I have it correct, and pressing F5 compiles for me.

The reason it hadn't compiled for me was because of a syntax error, and now I can get the syntax error showing. Also is there something that allows me to add media without having to go digging, because there is the viewer and all but I don't see any options to add it to my code.
