I'm looking for someone who can model some futuristic pieces of furniture for a game which will eventually sold commercially. The stuff I'm looking for can be low poly and have angular features (cubes, octagons and sloped faces baby )

Attached are some images taken from the Daz 3D site. I really *really* like the sci-fi construction set stuff from Davorama (but of course it's not only outrageously high poly, but not within the user license to use it for games). See the attached image for a collage of his stuff (very cool stuff). This will also help you see what kind of theme I envision for this kind of stuff.

Here's what I'm offering:
1) Full credit (of course)

2) ca$h (well some - I really don't have much, but we can negotiate it out - hey I can't stand it when people offer nothing but credit. If you need beer & pizza money I can hook you up, if you're looking for hundreds of dollars I'm just not your guy )
(not that I don't wish I could pay it... or that I don't think you deserve it, but reality is we indie guys are all broke bastards trying to scrape up what we can This is very much a "garage game project". Literally - my computer is setup in the garage - we converted a small space for my addiction )

3) You keep the rights to anything you make. Sell it, keep it, show it off, whatever you want. All I ask is that you please don't give everything right away to the community because I want to use it my game first)

I will be importing the stuff into FPSC so I need it in .x format. I doubt that any of this would require any kind of animation. Although the attached images show doors opening, drawers being pulled out and stuff for Poser I don't need any of that (although maybe seperating a locker door might be a good idea if I decide to use scripting or animation to simulate opening lockers... hmmmm...)

The theme is sci-fi horror (abandoned space hulks, industrial mining complexes and the like). Quality and style are along the lines of Quake 2, Arena or Unreal. Obviously I'm not looking for Doom 3 insane levels of detail, but I would like some nice pieces (who doesn't). I mean I can fire up Cartography Shop and create a hollow cube, wrap it in a white ceramic texture and call it a sink, but I would really like something halfway decent that goes outside of my incredibly limited skills.

Here's a list of the types of things I will ultimately need for dressing out my levels:

* Bed (stackable so you can create bunks with it)
* cryo chamber of some kind (I love the classic one from the original Alien film )
* Computer console desk (remember classic doom and all the long computer banks)
* a futuristic "office chair" for sitting at consoles
* Futuristic urinal (I hate to say it but Doom 3 actually has some pretty cool toilets... ummm... yeah... let's move on)
* Futuristic sink
* Some kind of wall mounted hand dryer ("sonic cleaner"?)
* slim tall shower unit
* tall cabinets (many, many uses)
* tall lockers
* desk lamp
* an "autochef" some kind of future microwave oven slash replicator thing

I know FPSC has some of these items in it's included media and many others could be mocked up, but I'm looking for something with a different feel.

If any artist out there is interested please email me and help out.

Hey mustrix - I have actually seen your stuff for Syndicate Remastered. You are a really good modeller! (I need to check out your textures on limefly - I love that site )

Plus I have a really warm spot in my heart for Syndicate. Damn now you are wanting me to dig out my American Revolution CD and try to use dosbox to play it!?!*

Yeah I will definately hook you up with BlueGUI. Happy to support Rob. I actually bought it also fo rmyself but I never ended up using it. ...someday. But yep if you can do all that list up there I would be MORE than happy to give you the cash to buy a copy of BlueGUI. (actually I'm getting the better end of that deal! Hell if you can do as nice a job as you are doing on your game I'll buy you something else - anything else you need in the $20 range for Syndicate Remastered???)

no problem, i promise u ill do my best to make the models match the concept u supplied, ill also texture and uvmap them of course, that will eventually take a little more time to end up perfect, but i only expect bluegui when the job is fulfilled and ur happy with the result.

yep, syndicate remastered is really getting on to something , ill post a work in progress as soon has i finish the game editor, and its looking really good, blue gui will be very usefull for the game editor, im coding my own gui in darkbasic, but i will eventually need blue, blue is one of the best darkbasic related programs ever done, i just love it,

u will love the remake we are making, all team members are really commited and motivated, we have our team full, jonnhyR is doing such a great work on concept, wigget is very busy at the moment but hes always cheking out for new progress, hehe, hes always cheking if im working ,

hehe yeah sorry i been so busy, but my tv show goes to air today, in about 4 more hours. im in teh office now waiting fo ra few phone calls to come through then i will be off to celebrate, but we have a by next week (no episode) so after i get home tonight if you can send me the work you've done i will photoshop up a nice work in progress thing, maybe even put it on my website, which apparently i'm supposed to have like 10 meg of with my isp, just never got round to putting up a site but will look into it tonight.

Thanks Josh. I will keep that in mind because I'm sure I will need other things later on. $100 is actually a really fair price for that quality & quantity, but for now if I can help mustrix & company out and not have to drop $100 then it's all good for everyone. (cause frankly there ain't much left in savings and when my wife finds out how much I've been spending on making games my ass is DEAD - you think Doom 3 is scary hoo man you have no idea how much a beautiful woman can transform into a hideous blood curdling monster )

What I REALLY want from YOU is for that dang media subscription thing to work out. I wish more people would get in on that because it would be damn cool and high quality too *sigh*

Oh well if it falls through (and I hope that it doesn't) I will just try and convince you to do an EA verson of CS5 for me (bribe my way into the beta test hehehe ). One way or the other I have no doubt that you or Alec will end up with my money!?

im very very sorry, ive just checked your email, and i will awnser it in a polit form has u did with me, im having some personal troubles and i havent had to much time on the computer, your models are now my top priority and i promise ill start modelling them later today, (its 1.51 am and im really messed up), again, sorry, ill keep my word on it and tomorrow ill work for at least 4 hours on your models, ill show you some wip of them to, ive tried opening max and start modelling, but my head is really spinning, i hope i can get some sleep and wake ok tomorrow, ill email you tomorrow also, again, my apologies.

Sorry I didn't post sooner guys (was out of town yesterday)

Snaz - I would love to support the artists over there at Daz3D. The prices are great and the quality is very nice, but the problem is (as I originally stated at the top of this thread) Daz has made it clear that you CANNOT use any of the models for a game.

Even if you could, most Daz models are tens of thousands of polys so I would still have to try and reduce the polys (not sure if this particular furniture is that high, but I'll bet it's higher than the couple of hundred we like to have for FPS games )

I've seen mustrix's models for the Syndicate remake and they are very good. Also I have actually downloaded textures by him before (didn't even realize it was him!?! ) so I have no doubt he will do a top notch job.

At any rate my modelling skills are so limited that I'm thankful for any help I can get!

Hey everyone - I wanted to just post real quick and say that mustrix and I have worked out a deal for these pieces. I promised to pay him $40 for the whole lot (even though he really only wants BlueGUI which is $20). I feel like $40 is MORE than a fair price for so many great models. <- edit: I mean to say that $40 is the least I could offer so many great models!

Just wanted to put that out there so mustrix would feel I was being fair and honest here.

Just so everyone is clear I've also been contacted by other people about making stuff and made a couple of other deals for other things I thought of (like a medical station and a datapad thing) so I'm open to offers. If you are a modeller and you have skillz, like making sci-fi stuff and need a plugin or other software drop me a line and maybe I can find other stuff I need for my game.

@snaz & mustrix - easy guys. Mustrix is doing me a big favor by doing all of these for so little plus he's got his own stuff going on in his life so please be cool. thx!

@snaz - I like your website. You should add more cool freebies for peeps
I'm totally cool with mustrix's works and I know he'll do a good job so I'm not worried about anything.

@BiggAdd - cool beds m8! What modelling program do you use? The render looks different than 3d max... I like the unique style you came up with.

I saw his modelling techniques, he is pretty good. But i also saw your prostitute female model and belive me, that really sucks(don't mind on me saying this). You could make a nice skin for it...how much could it take? i bet less than 2-3 hrs.

From that 4 models, i only made the barrel and the axe (which are free for n00bs like you to use in their engines). The others were made by my friend Zero. You know what, maybe a modelling contest could decide whose better.

Yikes! This has turned unpleasant.

O.k. the bottom line is I worked out something with mustrix. I think he does quality work. I'm totally confident that he can do a top notch job for me and I feel $40 is a bargain. There is no way I would come close to being able to get all of this done for such a small price. I'm greatfull that mustrix is willing to work on this project for me and so please don't attack his abilities (stop pissing off my artist m8!)

Snaz I'm sure you do good work and I've seen your posts and stuff over at Psionics forums. I know you are better than me, but I'm not about to try and judge who is better than who else on these forums.

Thanks for everyone who has posted and emailed. If I need other things (and I'm sure I will) I will post new requests and email people one-on-one. If anyone else has a question, concern, criticism or comment just email me direct. My email link is below.

hey snaz why are you trying to cause trouble, they both worked out $40 for the objects after crow saw some of mustrix's work. If he likes the models enough, who are you to criticize the work, stop being such a douche trying to challenge people to a modellingshowdown and go do your own work.

OMG! I can't believe they haven't locked this thread yet.

Snaz - I'm happy with the arrangement I have made. Please stop turning this into a pissing contest. All you are going to do is annoy mustrix until he doesn't want to finish this project.

I will be the one who decides if the work is worth the money not you or anyone else. Seriously if you have some kind of problem with mustrix then take it elsewhere. This thread and these forums is not the place for this. It is all completely ridiculous.
