Its for when people upload a 1280x1024 screenshot and your running at 1024x768 (eg, on an iBook) - or when someone pastes a stupidly long URL with no spaces. Thats the problem with using tables for layout, they break easily. The toggle is a neat way or hiding content!!

I suppose it may be useful... Would prefer a complete overhaul of the forums though

And I do believe it started appearing today

I added it just to hide massive images. Even in a CSS layout they'd still make the page huge (height wise). I also sped up a query that determines thread view history, and am working on a new feature now that I'll release in a few hours.

Hah-Hah!

I suggested this ages ago... Nice to see it's implimentation!

'tis quite a good addition, not only for huge images, but for flamers, and people that you simply prefer to ignore

Hurrah!

I implemented this in the 'new' version of Apollo, the one still sat on my hard drive that a load of people tested several years ago So it's not really 'new' at all I guess.

Am working on extended tags now (and yes they work in Firefox), but IEs inRange() method is proving a bitch (i.e. it doesn't work the way I want it to), so that's fun.

rotfl

You can thank the wonders of textarea caret chasing in IE for the delay. Not that Firefox gets off lightly either - selected text ranges in a complete document don't include form elements (the bugger), so I've been crafting some mojo javascript all night (it's now 4.46am) and am nearly done. But as the dude said.. Art takes time

Is there a way to automatically toggle huge posts, either by text length or images? It's nice being able to fold posts but when you have to scroll around and find hte posts manuially, it takes time. It would be sooo cool if large posts collapsed automatically. Or peraps a "hide all images" link.

Sort of like what Gmail does with images. YOu click a button (Link) that says, display all images, and Zoom---!! all the images load.

Or could all posts that are already marked as read be collapsed? (as an option in your profile maybe, so we dont annoy the world )

I like toggle a little bit, but take out the highlighting, its overkill. oh yeah, why did my thread get locked? you could have deleted it, locking it makes it look like im spamming.

mmm. Is having a 3 metre space between each topic normal? Am I suposed to have to upgrade to a 30 inch monitor or something? Or has it just gone wrong in Firefox?

And, since I assume Rich will be changing the CSS/other bits and bods that are in seperate files from the HTML, I suggest you Ctrl+F5 the pages every now and then.

That way, you'll get a 100% refresh from the site, including all the Javascript, CSS, etc, etc, and everything will look just dandy

Jess.

Its a good idea - but i have a feeling rich is busy enough as it is

EDIT: After a Ctrl+F5, forum looks back to "normal"... Seemed to load quicker, but that may have just been a lull in our companies fantastic broadband connection (2Mb divided by 80)

They don't if you select the text first. If you've got nothing selected then yes they are appended to whatever is currently in there.

Having said that, they might have done when you posted that message, I've only just got everything finally uploaded. Because it's JS, do a CTRL+F5 (or Shift+F5 in IE) to ensure you get the latest Javascript files.

Something which would be really nice would be if you change your sig, the sigs in all your existing posts get updated too. So if people are looking at old threads they won't see out of date sigs with links that no longer work etc.
Just a suggestion!

Just a missunderstanding on the workings of this forum.

Rich currently is feeding the sigs to the SQL database, unless he changes that (which might remove all previous sigs everywhere) to be a single SQL entree updating your sig will be like editing every post you made at once.
