Sadly, our last contest failed, no entries, not even after the extension, following up from Higgins' second idea of a Rollercoaster contest, people seem interested in a Theme Park contest, lets hope we have some entries this time.

Rules:

Model a theme park ride of your choice, be as creative as you can, if you want, have a Spongebob Squarepants log flume, or just a plain rollercoaster with a scary twist. Possibly in tribute to talk like a pirate day I may do a Monkey Island themed one myself.

Polycount Limit: There isn't any limit, if you want to go into the billions you can. (If your comp can hack it.) So don't worry about making it for a game.

Also, rendering and render tricks are allowed. So basically you get a lot of freedom. But the global rules still apply.

this is only limited to one ride right? Hmmm... I'll have to spruce my ride up a bit.

One ride of course. 10 days is your limit, so it would be unfair for more.

We are allowed to post multiple shots, right? So that people can view all of our work, just not one view?

PS: Can I enter this time?

First question, yes, you can post multiple shots, you're allowed to anyway.

As for entering, well technically as yours last one didn't work out, so I said I'd pick the theme of the new one and I'd taken your idea into a theme park one, so really the answer is yes, you can.

I hope I've got time to enter this, but I don't know... it's definitely not at the top of my prioities. Well, if I do, it will be the last model I make for a while...

sorry, i had to leave town for a week, couldn't get anything done past what I showed in the WIP thread.

This one sounds fun. Now I just gotta remember how to do paths in 3dmax.

this could be easy to make a roller coaster with blender maybe, just do a cross-section of the track and extrude, rotate, lather, rinse repeat..

whatever
maybe i should make one...

4 days left...come on, please show a little more interest Surely an empty contest is the perfect chance for a newbie to slide in and take the gold?

I guess I'll just have to deal and use my internet computer for this. Just means the texture won't be anything near what it could be. Of course it is just a roller coaster, I guess plain old metallic coloring would suffice?

Any rules for rendering in this compo? I can't really do it in anything like dark basic, but I could do one from W3D internal renderer, YafRay or just a shot direct from the editor

This is the most 'free' contest for a while, no rules for rendering, no rules for polys, just let your creativity flow.

Arg! I'm totally in on this one I've just been busy. I have a great idea for making tracks twist and stuff (in theory) so hopefully I'll get around to it. In fact... I'ma open maya now so hopefully I'll do something

[EDIT] Just tested my idea. It works pretty well. Here's a pic attached...

Nice, I'm entering this one. Just spent 3 hours on the entry and waiting for it to do another test render. (Takes ages, so much stuff to render).

[EDIT] Uploaded a WIP Below. Also there is a smaller image beneath that. That should be the final render.... but i just gave up because it was taking 20 mins. So i'm going to figure out a quicker way to render the splash.

Great stuff matey, I might cook something out of this as well, sort of to test how I'm getting on with the XSI trial, and perhaps play with Mental Ray and materials a bit more.

I agree, in those 20mins you should have bought a new pc, so while rendering you can still do stuff.

And for your water particles I would atleast make the particle sizes atleast 1/100`th of the size and increaced the density, looks like someone threw a bunch of diamons into the air ready to kill the people on the ride . ither than that the render is pretty damn awsome, maybe add some faces to the figurines .

Hallowed are the ori.

Yeh but i did something. I was playing on the Guitar. :p

Thanks for your comments. The particles are realy gloopy because dof would have fuzzed it out so much it wouldn't matter how big they were (Well thats my theory anyway.)
As for faces, im a terrible character modeler! The Character are primitives within the C4D App.

I guess I can fill in for Sepp...

Is the information in the global thread accurate? Just curious because while the description is right, some of the stuff seems like it might not be.
