I'm finally giving something away to the community, so... yay... I guess.

It's a Ford Crown Victoria P-71 (Police Interceptor). Just copy the files into FPS CreatorFilesentitybankuser and you're good to go.

I made this spazztacular video with it...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LEP-I4h1u8

I'm supplying specular and normal maps but have commented out the effect line in the .FPE because the maps get wonky unless the object is dynamic if the effect is enabled. More savvy users, can fiddle with that if they want but I figured I ought to have it set up in the least confusing manner possible, so there you have it. The model in the video is shown with full shaders enabled.

The map is fairly "meh" and basic/cartoony but I figure it's a good enough starting point and I've included the a UV map so that people can give it some more love than I did should they chose to do so in lieu of complaining about it. It's UV mapped without overlap or mirroring so you can easily put decals or text pretty much anywhere on it if you want to convert it into a police car or taxi. The undercarriage is also UV mapped with enough pixel real-estate to put some nice detail there as well. It's a bit of a fixerupper but, hey, it's free!

Thanks, fellas. Hope someone out there can put it to good use.

Exactly! I chose to build a crown Vic for the same reason I build M16's... It's all about versatility

Glad you guys like the vid. Doing that stuff, as silly as it seems was the best way I could figure to test if the spec. and normal mapping was working properly. It's also loads of fun LOL... I think I bounced those things around that room for close to an hour.

Hehe, cool! The video reminds me of when I was kid, and I would secretly watch Benny Hill reruns after everyone else went to bed, hoping to see some bouncing boobies.

Love the movie. Was that hydraulics I noticed? The .x file would be a great addition.

Thanks.

Thanks, and great Vid! (By the way - hows the progress on the additional animations for the M4/M16 series for DBP?)

Argh sorry guys.. I was sleep deprived

Here's the .X for folks who have allready downloaded the other files and the zip in the original post now includes the .x file.

As an apology, I'll post a few additional variant meshes with light bars and whatnot sometime later this month.

Haha and I've come so close to purchasing a used P-71 of my own. But then I realized how massive those things are and the desire faded... I wouldn't want to parallel park one on a daily basis! I'll always have a soft spot for the Chevy 9C1 but I figured that there would be less utility in modeling one.

Yes, nothing says ubiquitous like a crown vic and the great thing about that body style is that the mesh will also work with the 1998-2001 cosmetics (lights, grille, window layout, etc.).

Hehe. I think that's all there was to that show!

LOL, nope. Just FPSC physics hard at work! I was thinking the same thing.

I had to take a little break from that but I'll get back to it. Sorry for the delay. I had to sidestep from that a little bit in order to get some test files to TGC for them to review and was feeling a little frazzled after so I made the car as a distraction.

Amazingly cool model -- great work, and yes, hugely versitile. Is this being given royalty-free; in other words, do you have any issues with people basing a model on this for the Nvidia competition?
