There seemes to be a great demand for introductory conversations....so I scraped one from my big (but dead) fantasy project:

In short this script does the following:
- when the player gets into range of the NPC, the conversation starts
- during the conversation the player cannot move.
- it is self-running until the player has at one point to decide how to answer (=which key to press)
- the player can speed up the the conversation in pressing <enter>
- player and NPC lines differ through colour and position
- the player gets a choice somewhere to keep talking, go his way, or fight
- at the end the NPC goes along waypoints to a door and vanishes
- the player can attack the NPC prior to the conversation, when he is offered the choice in between and after the conversation when the NPC walks away (the script then uses RUNFPI=).

I am not completely satisfied with the placement and the colour of the text lines (upper light blue for the NPC, down bright blue for the player) but it should provide a good start for everyone.

Here's how the setup looks like in the editor:

You can attach this script p.e. to a commanding officer, an ally, a help seeker, a computer terminal or an intercom. And you can do a lot more than just have the NPC walk away at the end, the possibilities to customize it are nearly endless.

, this is the coolest script ever! nice for a role playing action game!

I think you should continue with that project!

I'm familiar with this, but I'm still learning!

I thought you'd like it

And this project is definitely dead. Since I started in 2010 to build it with Fenix mod, I had to cut this map alone into 3 parts, because due to the memory issues I can't build the game otherwise. With completely outdoor maps its even worse. I have tons of medieval models and NPCs but its just impossible to create a village map that lives up to its name with the current build.

My original 3 levels are now 11 levels which means I have allready a hard time to pack those into a single game while the size is still far from what I envisioned.

But I think I am ready to let go...here's a montage of the original whole first level (now in three parts!): http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg106/TheStoryteller01/FPSC/BloodqueenL1.jpg

Nice script. It works quite fine in v1.17.

Great script for RPG gaming.

At the moment, I can't use it with the 'FPSC v-1.09' that I have installed right now but I will for sure check it out in the near future and sorry to hear about the end of your Fantasy project.

Thanks again for sharing and explaining this script and the process to us because I'm sure it will benefit and inspire many members on the Forum.

Cheers

And here we thought we were the only ones left using an old version

awsome script! this is a perfect basic and can edit for all characters! maybe a new age of rpg-shooters would destroy all the boring zombie-shooters! hope so, because i want a complex story and not a simple shoot them up(maybe with the best graphic i ever seen in fpsc, but in the foreground the story: best example i also love to play halo in year 2012)

but back to the topic! awsome awsome lucky to see you make a game

Yes, i´m a noob, but i like it

When I said I am ready to let go of it, it meant I am not continuing this game. Maybe some day when the engine allows me to build the levels I want for a fantasy game

Regarding the conversation script, I am allready working on some follow-ups.
