Hey everyone,

I've never really contributed anything cool to the TGC Community. After doing some work on Robolegs I saw there was a need for an options menu for FPSC.

I've been putting together an application that allows the player of an FPSC game to set the Graphics, Controls and Audio options for FPSC.

The screenshots below speak for themselves:

There is still work that needs to be done like mapping out the rest of the keys on the keyboard to work correctly and getting the audio settings done.

Basically, once you've built your game. You drop the "Launcher.exe" into your game folder and that's it.

I intend to complete this quite soon.

In future versions these are some possible features:

* Xbox Remote Support
* Splash Screen displays after before launching game

*** UPDATES ***

10-04-12: Removed the scroll bars and added Graphical Presets.

Please let me know what you think and please suggest some features?

Looks great, My suggestion would be controller input. I'm not a coder so I'm not sure how hard it is to implement it, But for me that would be a nice feature.

Are you referring to XBox or Gamepad remote support?

This looks very good! very professional looking.

suggestion: where it says launcher at the top, you should
have it read the setup.ini for gamename= , so people
can add their game name to it.

From a gamer and developer view. Lose the scroll bars. Make the forms a bit taller. Lose the minimize button and have it auto close. Don't use it as a launcher. Set it as an options thing. In other words It runs on the initial start-up of the game and unless they call it again then the options menu never shows. Use an XML file so people can customize the launcher with the name of their game or whatever they want.

Other then those things it looks really good

Nice looking UI Landman.

Don't forget to do some standard default presets (low, med, high) and add an option for user created presets.

Functionality is a must, you've got that going. UI is looking good as well but, try some fullscreen variations with backgrounds, music and SFX.

Looks very good!

I might suggest a extra tab with Regular controls like: Start game, Visit support website ect. It will feel more like a regular FPS launcer when those things are present.

Great idea. I'll have that included too.

S4real, I own both your products, Vishnu Launcher and Vishnu Packer. They are excellent products too. I'm creating something extremely simple which serves as a configuration tool. Vishnu launcher has way more features regarding customization.

Thanks!

I am going to sell this for $99. JOKES! It'll be free and for commercial use.

I'll be showing a preview of the updated UI this weekend. Scroll bars are gone already. I totally agree that it should serve just as a configuration tool. So that will rule out any need for adding backgrounds etc.

Presets are in the works. You will see an updated version over the weekend. I would like to keep this as a simple configuration tool. So maybe the title is a bit misleading. I'll play around a little maybe backgrounds, sfx isn't a bad idea.

I do want to keep this as a simple configuration tool for FPSC. Adding "Start Game" and "Visit Support" site would be ideal. I'll include this in the next update over the weekend.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions! I'm glad that the feedback has been positive so far. I'll be honest, I'm not in an extreme rush to have this tool complete by tomorrow kind of thing. It will probably be done in about a month from now (When I release Robolegs)

PS! I've been doing some concept designs for what I think FPSC Reloaded could look like. That will be posted in the Reloaded forum over the weekend too. Think, FPSC crossed with Unity crossed with Photoshop crossed with awesomeness!

Cheers,

@Landman :- Once complete I would be interested in adding it to vishnu packer so they have a custom feature but that upto you.

Vishnu Packer is the free one.

Hey all,

I've done a bit of work on the configuration tool. It will support graphic presets now too.

So you could select: Low Graphics, Medium Graphics, High Graphics and it will set the quality accordingly.

I need some suggestions on what resolutions should be supported? Any suggestions?

I'd be more than happy to allow you to include this in Vishnu Packer! This is written in C# so I'm not sure how you would go about integrating it with Vishnu Packer?

I am looking forward to this, especially gamepad support! Will this open up every time I launch a game, or just once?

@Muzzles56, this will be a seperate .exe that you put into your built game folder. So you can run it whenever you want.

@Leebo, I will most likely only finish this within the next month when I've freed up time.

@Danieleman, unfortunately I don't intend the app to have any UI customization features. It's just a simple tool. Check out S4real's packer and launcher. I believe it's a more superior application than mine.
