So yeah, today's my birthday and i want my 8 year-old PC CRT screen replaced with a wide screen LCD. I'm looking for expert help here in what to look at\for.

Don't get too distracted though and comment only on my birthday, i have the blues. It's the big 21 and i haven't even gotten myself an income yet and live in my parents basement, how classic.

*goes to eat cake(!) crying*

i'll be back here some time later, thanks in advance for the input.

make sure you have a good dead-pixel warranty. If you plan on playing games, you'll want the lowest response time possible, i think somwhere between 4ns and 8ns is the standard now. my laptop's got a mega slow response time, hence when I game everythings just a blue on the screen.

the actual refresh rate however, (the one measured in Hz) doesnt matter with lcd screens

You mean all of the red and green subpixels are dead?

Thanks, i think it's more comfortable to look at as it fits my field of view more naturally.

I don't really play games that often, rarely on the PC. I'm mainly using it for 3dsmax, music, surfing and programming.

Okay, can you enlighten me as of why?

Sounds more like a stuck pixel. You can't get warranty for that because they can happen (and un-happen) at any time and apparently do happen quite a lot (without you noticing it) and go away 99% of the time pretty quickly. At least you couldn't get a warranty when I was buying a year or so ago and enquired with a few companies. Black dead-pixel warranty no problem, stuck pixel warranty I would be very suprised.

Try that massaging method for removing the stuck pixel. Is supposed to work sometimes.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing
