That looks like Starcraft done in 3D. The CG cutscenes are meaningless, gameplay is what matters, and it doesn't look that original.

@Cash: Err that was all gameplay Cash, besides the introduction0.o....

Oh, and a few parts spliced in. But the topdown part is Gameplay.

I know, I was commenting on the top down clips. The other clips were obviously not gameplay.

When I saw the first bit, I was amazed. The alien looked amazing. Then it switched to overhead and I realized what I'd just seen was CG. I was disappointed. It didn't look bad, it's just been done before, and done extremely well. You don't do a cover of a #1 hit unless you're just trying to pay the rent.

Well to give them credit, this is a 12 day old video, and a lot can change in 12 days=P, and you have to watch this video and the other ones to see all the other effects. Plus the c&c series is famous for cutscenes, you have to remember that. Dont be suprised if you have 20-30 5 minute long cutscenes with that quality CG in game=D

ALIENS? you've got to be kidding! What made the plot of the original C&C games interesting was the political story about zealots, in fighting, dictatorship, desperation to control a substance that was essentially killing the planet etc.

What have we got here... space aliens... once again its a desperate bid to save the planet from some murderous bugs who hate [film announcer voice] freedom, individuality and the dynamic human spirit[/film announcer voice]

tedious.

I'll tell you the ending now;

You win, you destroy the alien scourge that ravaged the planet, but then in the last second of the end sequence, you see an alien's hand that's still alive and still filled with malice.

Whoohoo.

I don't have a sig, live with it.

Wow looks awesome. I've been watching the trailers on ign over the last few months and I have to say their low res trailers of C&C3 didn't impress me all that much. They obviously don't do the game justice because these high res trailers look sweet.

You can't just group up the C&C games like that, you have to split it into 3 groups:
Red Alert (somewhat alternate present, Soviet vs Allies, and the political story you mentioned),
Tiberian Sun (less political and more sci-fi. Adding aliens to this isn't deviating so much, and it keeps things interesting), and
Generals (EA took over and this had nothing to do with the rest of C&C. Now this we can be revolted at. ).

So I'm looking forward to this, especially as I'm angry at Tiberian Sun for being unstable and crashing in the middle of an otherwise fun skirmish battle (almost every time). It's Red Alert 3 I'd like to see though, I hope EA doesn't ruin it.

i guess its good but i have to agree with Manic that i liked the diplomatic alternative universe that was sort of like ours but different but now these aliens well i guess its okay but i rather do without and go the classic way with just countries like allies verse soviets ahh but i guess games want to appeal to those younger ages too! [kid's voice]Kool i get to blow some alien brains up[/kid's voice] But then i guess we all have a little kid in our selves (mine's a 10 year old) so this alien thing is alright i guess i have nothing against.Nice graphics though
i guess i would prefer an addition to the red alert series but this extension to tiberian wars is okay i guess.

Looks like Starcraft to me. Speaking of, wasn't there a rumor about Blizzard making a new starcraft?

Phaelax,
From what I can remember, SC2 has had a story-line, and basic design done for a very, very long time, but they've never started production.

I think they wanted to concentrate on SC:Ghost and WC3 & WC3:FT.

Looks cool - but then Generals looked a lot cooler in it's trailers than it actually was, so I'm sceptical with this one.

Might be one to try on the 360, at least then if it sucks you can always take it back - bit trickier with PC games.

Really, we don't want another C&C game do we?, we'd much rather have StarCraft in 3D - C&C was always a pain when playing against someone who knows all the tricks, like having a hacker farm in Generals, pumping money like it's nobodies business. There always seemed to be much more even skirmishes in StarCraft IMO.

I think they could have made a much more interesting game plot by creating an allegory for the modern society. I see aliens as a cop out because they can be stripped of any sort of complex characteristics and just given the "kill kill kill" mentality.

What about a world where the Conservative and Liberal divide has become so divisive its turned into some sort of civil war on a global level? Wouldn't that have been more compelling? Am I asking too much from a game? I don't think so.

I don't have a sig, live with it.

I sure do... I don't want another Generals though.
As I said before, Generals has as much to do with C&C as a cat in a dog pound.

I thought generals zero hour was great. Probably put more hours/days/weeks! into it than any other game in the last few years. -- Big fan here

But there has already been aliens in C&C games, tiberium sun had them, and since this goes off that its no surprise to me. For those who never played that far, a you had to protect a downed alien craft.
