Makro have slashed the 360 to £199 (unofficially - this is just to get people into the shop).

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=22896

Do you need to be a member or something to shop at Makro?
(It is free to become a member I think...)

Anyway, I'm sold! I'll go get one at the weekend. (XNA here I come).
No excuses from anyone else either, that's only £20 more than a Wii (if you could get one anywhere!).

Apologies to Rich - that must be annoying

Good price .

I think with Makro it's like a store reward card, so really just a little questionaire to fill in then you get a card right away.

Hopefully they won't sell out too quickly...

They haven't really advertised, its only the hardcore/industry sites that have noticed so far.

Did anyone here about getting 360s free at Tesco??
There was an cock up in the barcoding, so it was marked at £277.18, but still came up as £279.99 at the till. Tesco policy is if they over charge you at the till, you get that item free!

They realised pretty quick obviously (after people made off with about 10 consoles each!), and the deal is now that they pay back double what they overcharged.

Makro is a trade wholesale place, you need a business to get in, or your boss to get you a card. Because it's trade, the prices are quoted ex VAT, so it will cost you £270.

You'll need a Makro card to even get into the store, and the prices are all ex. VAT. This is still cheaper than buying from the likes of Game, but not by as much as the article leads you to believe. You certainly don't get a 360 for £199 notes (unless you ARE a VAT registered business, who can claim the vat back as a valid expense)

Vat is 17.5% right?

£199 / 100 * 17.5 = £34.83
£233.83 is a fair bit less than £270.

By way of demonstration, he emitted a batlike squeak that was indeed bothersome.

winch - it is, I think Steves math went a bit haywire somewhere but the fact still remains that unless you're a registered business (or know someone who has a makro card who can go shop for you) you still can't buy one anyway

Yes, my bad.
However - try explaining to the Inland Revenue that purchasing an Xbox is a business expense! Unless of course, your company has the words "Game" and "Creators" in it.

I once bought an MP3 playing watch from Makro through the business - but I did give it away as a prize.

I know someone with a Makro card! (God knows how they got it, they aren't a company!)

Meh quoting prices without VAT that should be against the law...

You probably have a NTSC-compatible PAL television, otherwise I think you'd get a B&W picture. I could be wrong, though.

I have vague plans for World Domination

I think Makro have loosened their member policy in recent years, You can pretty much go in with some headed paper you printed yourself and claim you're a company.

I don't have a sig, live with it.

Yeah, I mean you go there looking to spend £200+, then the guys at Makro are gonna want to let you. It's like those stores that offer instant store credit with no credit checks - really, they'll go out of their way to get you spending money, even if it does involve bending the law, making exceptions, or just keeping schtoom.

most online shops quote ex vat then plus vat next to them if you notice hard enough. (and dont think high street shops since they sell to customers _only_)

if anyone knows the law, you can create your own "dummy" company for 20 quid iirc.

simply take that into makro and bobs ya uncle, xb360 still cheaper than retail

I read yesterday that play.com were going to drop the price of the Core system down to £150 soon, which is pretty cool as not everyone needs Live (or the hard drive) and those that do could add it on for a total still less than it'd cost to go into Makro

£50 for a brand new PS2 is a steal. Not that I need another one as mine works perfectly - but even so, what a superb price considering the fantastic variety of games you can get for it. I can see the PS2 outselling the PS3 this year easily

All the rumours about the 'new' 360 are interesting, but still with absolutely zero official announcements they remain just rumours. Part of me hopes it doesn't come true just yet - having recently bought my 360 but £10 here, £20 there price tattling between retails I couldn't care less about.
