I'd like to present to all of ye, Motron Software's newest game, Delta-man.

You play "Jones", a programmer living his boring life working at Medrell incorporated. On March 8th 2013, he arrives at work for his normal routine. He heads up to his office on the 10th floor in the new elevator. When he a arrives in the office he meets up with his work colleauges, Nathanael and Ryan. Nathanael snuck in some pizza and offers Jones a slice but just when hes about to eat it, his boss (Ted) arrives and takes the entire pizza. A few minutes later, the lights start flickering and all the computers get a BSOD. Light floods through the windows and Jones faints. He wakes up with hands covered in blood and his face covered in glass. There are two people in space suits surrounding him. He punches them and kills them both. He realises that some sort of alien ship has just hit the 9th floor of the office building, which killed everyone in there. Everyone, except Jones. He picks up the handgun which was hidden in his bosses desk and kills another alien with a gun. He realises that the entire building is flooded with these alien beings. When he gets to the ground floor, to his surprise, all the people who were there when he left the reception area are now zomibes! He slaughters them all and the aliens inside
he eventually escapes and is teleported to a white room where he confronts an alien. The alien tells him the horrific disaster (Which you will find out when you buy the game ). Jones must find a radar to phone the military of the alien planet to get them to help stop this illegal invasion.

The game will consist of over 25 levels and will sell for about $10 USD. But dont worry, there will be a demo version for the rest of you!

For now you can enjoy some screenshots and artwork below:

http://motronsoftware.com/dman2.jpg
http://motronsoftware.com/3.png

I hope you like it. Any constructive critisism will be greatly appricieated. Feel free to post bad things about it and I will probably feel free to ignore you (50% of the time).

I am also having trouble with a trigger zone. I want to play a sound and then after a delay of about 8 seconds, I want "liftd" to fall down at high speed. Can anyone tell me how to do this as the way I am currently trying to do it is not working. Any help would be appricieated.

Enjoy,
-Steven

If you want to sell this game (for any amount of money), then you've got a long way to go. You've got to pay attention to detail.

First, you're areas are WAY too large; they contain very little entities for all the space you are using. Your rooms appear to be one big square/rectangle, with a single level.

Next, the roof doesn't look like a roof...due to the segments you are using. If the player goes to the edge of the roof, do they see the ground or just the bottom of the skybox?

Why would there be pay phones in an office?

Why is the pizza box propped up like an open book?

You need to utilize the lights better, not light the entire room with one light. Make use of the new Dark Lights.

The hands look different in two screenshots, due to using both weapon Model Packs. That is inconsistent.

Your use of the fire decal is excessive, and looks a bit sloppy. Try using that decal in strategic locations instead; perhaps along with a steam decal.

$10 is the going rate for the best FPSC games you see in the forums; such as Dark Faction 2, Pointless Assault, etc. Even those games may fetch a bit more. Benjamin A's game is making sales right now, have a look at his game (Commander Josh) to see what you need to work on.

Keep at it, and you'll improve. But this game, as it stands right now, wouldn't even place well in the Level Design Competition.....come to think of it, check out those levels for some inspiration.

-Keith

Thanks for your reply KeithC. Ill take note of your suggestions. Also, if I try to compile a test level with my lightmapping on, it takes about 10 minutes to compile only to crash at 99%. I will probably build the game on a better computer.

try to keep to the story line. I don't see why there would be a zombie cop or hazard suit bloke in a place over run supposedly by aliens. And try to get the rooms to be a bit smaller or out more stuff in them because it looks very spacious.

@Luciferia, if we cant breath on other planets then how do you expect aliens to breath on Earth? The aliens are in space suits, I plan to retexture them.

Lol What can I say some times the truth hurts. Why on earth would I want to tell stevenup what his game look good when it's doesn't look good at all.I once gave advise on how to improve the overall look of the game and I got a slap in my face I won't call names but this person told me I had no idea what I was talking about.Yet funny enough his reply was what is lightmapping?Ironic don't you think?

Why lie when it looks horrible.Like most older users who got fed up with being politicaly correct some don't even reply to these types of threats any more.So yeah if I tell your the game sucks. Please go ahead hate me for it.

But in future my reply will. "Your game needs work,it doesn't look very playable, mabye you should go back to the drawing board" Is this less distastefull to you standards.

I'm pretty sure your mothers morals are lower that my cars suppension. In future don't try and insult me.I'm also pretty sure I'm twice your age.

I hope you get to read this darimc.Pretty please fredP or KeithC.

As for stevenup I'm sorry if I offended you in any way.If you like I could always give you some tips.

Thanks wizardofid

My aim is not only learn what it takes to make a good game, but to learn how to make these games better. WOI, could you please point out specific points that I can improve on?

I agree with Kieth. Most of the entities do not fit. Also, the LYTE FX things are coming from inbetween the window and the wall. And honestly, nobody would by this game in the state it's in.

The next step is to try and build that level that will give you some idea how to use segments better that level took about 3 or 4 weeks tweaking.

Some thing you don't notice in that level is that I make use of two floor levels for a single floor level makes things look less cramped...If I do make use of a single floor level it's only for a small area for me it works well I'm not telling you should do the same which ever works best for you.It does give you some more room to work with.As for out door scenes I try and limit or fake them with windows ect not too many other wise it looks over done.

Secondly Stay from large open areas it's a sure way to kill your frames...This might be paint n paste program but try and plan entities placement better no one likes a chair or table in the middle of nowhere....

Looking foward to seeing you new screenshots.

Just a minor tip, the screenshot with the bloody writing on the wall, should say "You're next" not "Your next". It is an abbreviation of "you are".
