Hey there.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I would be able to changed the displayed text when a door is locked.

In my case it says the door is locked, but i'd like it to say "Wait till the lights are out\" or something along those lines....

anyways, any help would be much appreciated!

The "text" you see in-game is actually an image, called a hud. Look in "C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Files\languagebank\english\gamecore\text" and you will see the image files. Change the image ..... change the text.

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

I changed the text files for the hud so that when I walk up to a coathangar ( used as a key for lockpicking) it would read" you picked up a coat hanger" and the window it unlocks reads" window locked" instead of "door locked" . the problem is it works fine when I put it in a test level....but when I put it in the real level I am making the old text comes up talking about "keys" and "doors" instead of coat hangers and windows. I made new scripts that point to the right thing as proven in my test level because it works. I've deleted the BIN and DOS files and all traces of the window and the coat hanger and then saved and put back into the level and I still keep getting "picked up a key" and "door locked". Its driving me crazy. I guess I could fix it by killing those two text files and replcing them with :key" and "coat hanger" but at some point I will want that text for when doors are locked and I actually do pickup a key. Is there some sort of cached memory of this that needs to be erased? the wrong text keeps appearing and its not due to scripting
