Update April 04
Arcane Editor 0.65 is ready for download here!

This is the first version where you can save and load your scenes, but no exporter yet to DBP (this is next, 0.70). Note: Scene files store full paths of the objects, including drive letter. To be able to see the example scenes with this release, install arcane in "C:\Arcane", so the arcane EXE should be in "C:\Arcane\Arcane.exe". Any feedback is welcomed!

Update March 16
I am about 99% done with Loading/Saving Scenes, I want to test some
more. I will be releasing 0.65 this weekend with this feature.

Original Post

Good evening everyone (here anyway )

Arcane Editor 0.60 is ready for download here!

A few things about this release:
1) You can read 2 sections of my unfinished manual for arcane here.
2) The Save/Load features are not implemented yet, so you can't save your work. This is next on my to-do list.
3) I am setting up a suggestion/bug reporting system that will help with any bugs or feature requests from the community.

My goal is to release a new version at least once a week (if time allows). All comments/suggestions/questions/requests are very welcomed and appreciated. Again, thanks everyone!

Hi Everyone,

I am getting ready to release Arcane World Editor 0.5 to the community. The target release date is Feb 24, 2007 (This Saturday). I am preparing the release, removing a lot of debug code, etc.

Arcane is a world/level editor, it allows you to visually put together a scene for you to use in your game/application. Arcane is written completely in DarkBASIC Professional with BlueGUI DLL. Some important features are

- Loads Objects and Images
- Select/Manipulate multiple objects at once
- Object materials can be modified
- Cloning / Instancing of Objects
- Object Alignment, Grid Arrangement, and Object Scattering
- Light Creation and placement
- Zones Supported (Box, Spheres, and Points)
- Terrain Support

The official website for Arcane is at http://arcane.danielsanchez.net, you can also view 2 videos that show the program in action: Showcase 1 and Showcase 2

Any comments are welcomed, I know I haven\'t provided enough material to really ask for suggestions, but those are welcomed as well. Below are some screen shots from the gallery, Thanks all!

Overall look at the interface:

The scripted object placement/creation looks quite useful. You double posted though, you might wanna fix that.

Quit planning to make a game and make a game.

Looks very good . I think the object need a special effect when it's selected (like a wireframe, a fading or something like this) because it's a bit hard to know wich object is selected.

I'm working on a world editor too, with almost the same features, so I know there is a lot of work in your program .

You are right. I'm looking for other ways to highlight the object without destroying material information.

Try Set Object Ambience with a white color and I don't think you will loose your materials.

Thanks everyone . I will try the selection suggestions as soon as I have time (they are good). Like planned, I will be releasing Arcane tomorrow, afternoon-night time. This will give me time to finish at least 2 introductory tutorials.

Arcane Editor 0.60 is ready for download above. Sorry everyone for all the double posting. It's hard to fix once you've done it, but i've fixed it, won't happen again (hopefully ).
