I am trying to install a version of Vista on a pc. It has an DG965WH Intel board, and it wont let a HP dvd640 lightscribe be in the boot order. I have tried everything. The ASUS cdrom drive is in the bios, the hdd's, it is annoying as hell trying to figure it out. BIOS has latest updates, Drive has latest firmware, it is annoying=/ Any help is appreciated.

You might need to upgrade the BIOS on your motherboard to support it.

Wow, thanks for reading my post all the way through (sarcasm)! I said I already upgraded it to the latest possible version, and looked on the actual DVD driver site...

Just a suggestion, but maybe the wire is in the wrong spot? I don't really know, just throwing something into the wind, and hoping it hits some one (you, if you get my metaphor :S...)

Is it an original copy of Vista? If its a backup *cough* maybe it wasn't burned with boot enabled.

What type of interface is the CD-Drive on IDE, SCSI, FIREWIRE, USB?

Original, I buy my stuff. It just wont be read by my bios, XP reads it fine. The DVD drive is IDE. The cord has been checked many times.

If your bios has a quick boot feature, try turning it off and let
it do a full startup. Might work.
