Let me get 1 thing straight before I upgrade to Vista later on in the year.... Will DarkBASIC Pro with all its addons, except maybe bluegui, be able to work perfectly with Vista?

I know someone who upgraded to vista, but then went back to windows xp, because the programs for xp didn't work so good with vista (and because he thought it was a ripoff off mac osx). Don't know if it's the same thing with DBPro though.

DBPro (and especially all the DLLs) are not officially Vista compatible at all, and we don't recommend using DBPro on Vista at this moment in time (although some people have mixed results in doing so, it's a case of trial and error and is unsupported).

When a proper Vista version of DBPro is ready we will announce it.

To help make Windows Vista compatible with DarkBASIC Professional, you need to do two things:

1) Ensure you have full administration rights under Windows Vista.

(in some cases this is actually enough, it depends on some display drivers and the version of Vista you have, I don't think this works on Home Basic)

2) (Warning this could cause problems with vista, so you do it at your own risk!) You can install Direct X 9.0c February 2007 for XP onto Windows Vista, using XP compatibility mode. I have only tested this with Windows Vista Beta 2, so I have no idea how it will effect the retail or OEM versions.

DBPro works fine on Vista; I haven't used any add-ons or other DBPro related programs on it, however.

Hi i'd like to get some news about that annoying issue under Vista (requires directX blabla).
the other authoring applications i use (which btw use directx too) are working ok.

can't we get at least an answer about it or are we just good enough to buy buggy softwares ?
thanks in advance

Visit www.microsoft.com/directx and run the installer. You can have DirectX 9 and 10 installed simultaneously on Windows Vista.

So far, using DBP on a Vista Homa Basic system, I've had no real problems, mind you, I havn't been using any plug in's or anything, but for straight DBP, it's working ok. only problem, is an existing issue where sometimes DBP, or DBC for that matter, doesn't want to read the code right, load an image, etc, and re-booting the system takes care of it.
