It should do, as far as I know the card is fully backwards compatible, and there's drivers for it for XP.

I'm running an 8800gts on Windows XP right now, it's an incredible card. It just screams with dx9. Dx10 is Vista only though.

Also the very advanced features of the card that require DX10 will obviously be lost on Windows XP as DX10 is Vista only, as stated above. If you are planning on upgrading to Vista soon and you can afford it then a 8800 series card is the way to go. If not upgrading for some time then dont waste money and get a 7 series card instead. By the time you get Vista there will be all sorts of new 8 series cards out and price will be much cheaper.

Boo!

lol a 7800 or above is what i recommend. but if you go 7800gt or osmeything you might as well go the extra mile and get a 8800

I have 2 7950s SLI'd, and each one runs at 512MB of VRAM, which is amazing...for games that support SLI...

I was thinking about doing that, but then i compared prices and the 8800gt 320mb is only 40ish dollars more, so i might sell off one 7950gt and get that instead of buying another one.

Probably a good idea, make sure you have a dual core CPU you might need it with all the power behind your PCI slot.
