Here is a preview of my game "Road to Valhalla" which is hardly started let alone finished. Note the cool blank white entities and the super fast FPS! This is disappointing I know.

Ah well it's worth listening to my music anyway, download the movie I made to check it out.

@ Bronny - I was mixing English sarcasm and humour.

@ Father Tree - You was correct.

I like your subtle diplomatic skills

Default aside from the road, paving, concrete building, train containers, railroad, my heavy rock music.

The weapons, windows, humvee, decals and charcters were default though.

I've scrapped that level now, outdoor scene was too big and too slow.

Valhalla is a (haunted) house in a book called The House that Jack Built by Graham Masterton. It's a very good book.

Long before that it was written about in Norse Mythology

Quote: "From Wikipedia:

Valhalla (Old Norse Valhöll, "Hall of the slain") is Odin's hall in Norse mythology, located in Gladsheim and is the home for those slain gloriously in battle (known as Einherjar) who are welcomed by Bragi and escorted to Valhalla by the valkyries. The main gate is called Valgrind, which is described in Grímnismál as a "sacred gate", behind which are the "holy doors" and "there are few who can tell the manner by which it is locked". The hall itself has 540 doors, so wide that 800 warriors could walk through side-by-side, walls made of spears, a roof made of shields and benches covered with breastplates. It is said that there is room enough for all those chosen. Here, every day, the slain warriors who will assist Odin in Ragnarök, the gods' final conflict with the giants, arm themselves for battle and ride forth by the thousands to engage in mock combat on the plains of Asgard. At night, they return to Valhalla to feast on roasted boar and drink intoxicating mead. Those who do not get to Valhalla end up in the home of the dead (Hel), a place beneath the underworld (Niflheim), or one of various other places. Those who are lost at sea, for example, are taken to Ægir's hall at the bottom of the sea.

In addition to the valkyries and the Einherjar, a rooster named Gullinkambi lives there.

In Beowulf, it is called the shining citadel.

Gungnir= Odins spear which never missed it's mark.

Wiki Quote:
Quote: "Gungnir (also Gungni, Gungner, or Gungrir) was the name of Odin's javelin. The javelin's name means "Swaying One" or "influential". According to Snorri Sturluson's Skáldskaparmál the javelin was fashioned by those dwarfs known as the Sons of Ivaldi under the mastery of the blacksmith dwarf Dvalin . It was obtained from the dwarves by Loki as a partial reparation for his theft of Sif's hair. It has the practical characteristic of always hitting the target it was hurled against. The war between the Aesir and the Vanir officially started when Odin threw a javelin over the heads of an assembly of Vanir gods. Whether or not this was Gungnir is unclear. This magical weapon symbolizes the importance of the javelin in the world view of the Norsemen (see more at Javelin in the Norsemen societies)."

Did I mention I possess some absolutely useless, geeky knowledge?

Actually Odin is now thought by scholars to have been a Chieftan a mortal man who rose to God status for political reasons when the Germanic people were shifting from a Earth Mother religious system and needed a male warlike God to bring them victories on the battlefields as they migrated.

Interestingly (perhaps), the people of Germania venerated Odin but they called him Wotan, in England we called him Woden and the day Wednesday is allegedly named after Woden, however in Germany Wednesday is called Mittwoch instead of after Wotan, which is curious, to me it suggests that Wotan appeared late.

@ rolfy, yeah the name I chose is ok I guess, as good as any and better than some anyway. No, I have no more screenshots as I'm restarting my game from the beginning and optimizing all models where possible.

Also I'm making my own segments instead of relying upon stock. If only I could model or do retexturing of characters, bleh I have a lot of documentation about uniforms and would love to replace the default WW2 characters with more accurately textured ones. Also the modern S.A.S. are not accurate either, never known them to wear helmets for instance ... except when jumping from a plane

I though Odin was a really smelly man and then the word "odor" was created, lol. That was a joke.

Restarting? That stinks.

@ Komet´s first post: The "blank white entities" aren´t cool i think. It´s simple to delete the texture so an entity is white

i´ve written "jhon" the wrong way on purpose

@ Jenkins, I think it's best to restart after upgrading to the new patches, besides I'm now optimizing a lot of material before it's placed into a game, something I did not do previously.

@ Jhon newbie, I gather English is not your first language? Well try and read before you post in my threads, the blank white entities were not intentional and my reference to them being cool was meant to indicate quite the opposite.

Nice idea to base a game on a Masterton book. "The Walkers" would also rock. Actually, most of his books could probably make a decent fps. Gotta admit, I dont recall the swat dude turning up in "Jack" though.

I've never read any of Masterton's books, probably did not like the synopsis. My favourite fiction author at present is Simon Scarrow.
