Greetings,

TuPP3 was having trouble getting Habatar's Health Head System to work properly, and I decided to lend him a hand.

After quite a bit of scratching my head, and trying to get the Health Heads to work properly, I was able to figure out the problem.

Habatar's original scripting worked very well for FPSC EA, and Version 1, but the updates rendered the system obsolete. The original scripting doesn't work with V103 through V105.

I've combined it with a V103 setuplevel.fpi file, and it does indeed work very well. It's a really nice effect.

I've attached the custom graphics and the updated scripting that I used. Be sure to read the Health Heads V103 ReadMe.txt file that I've included. Follow the steps, and you will have the ability to use the Health Head System in your games.

You are free to use the custom head images for any purpose, if you wish. The only thing that I request is that I receive a mention in the credits, should you use them.

I'm sure that some of the steps are redundant or not neccessary, but the steps outlined in the Health Heads V103 ReadMe.txt yielded a successful result.

Tweaking the Global settings via Build Game was giving my system some unwanted hiccups. The sucker's workin'...if ain't broke, don't fix it...

Good luck to you, in your future endeavors.

Thanks,

Seth Black

EDIT:

I've recently discovered that replacing levelsetup.fpi in the MyGame folder will indeed provide a new default setting that includes the Health Heads.

Attempting to delete health and numeric images from the Global values section of Game Build, I encountered a hiccup which overwrote to the original levelsetup.fpi file. That's gotta be coming from the template folder.

Manually open HealthHeadsV103.fpi, and comment out the following lines:

:state=0:hudreset,hudx=5,hudy=5,hudimage=languagebankenglishgamecorehudslives.tga,hudmake=display
:state=0:hudreset,hudx=4,hudy=8,hudsizex=16,hudsizey=16,hudimage=gamecorehudsnumeric1.tga,hudtype=1,hudmake=numeric
:state=0:hudreset,hudx=15,hudy=5,hudimage=languagebankenglishgamecorehudshealth.tga,hudmake=display
:state=0:hudreset,hudx=14,hudy=8,hudsizex=16,hudsizey=16,hudimage=gamecorehudsnumeric1.tga,hudtype=2,hudmake=numeric

Commented out with semi-colons, LIVES, HEALTH and NUMERICS will not be displayed.

Seth Black, just so you know I've always used this system for health bars in every version of FPSC since v1. When you see my games demo, you won't be credited(unless we happen to something else from you). This linage of me using this can be easily traced though my profile and looking at any post I've made concerning huds(as I've never posted one that didn't use a health bar).

But nice of you to supply this to everyone....

Locrian,

Greetings. I was only drawing on my own experiences trying to remedy TuPP3's problem.

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=101860&b=23

I haven't used Health Heads in a very long time, but wanted to help the fellow out.

I was experiencing problems getting it to work. When I compared scripts, I recognized that the V103 scripting was quite different. I chalked up problems to this discrepancy. I rescripted it using a current V103 setuplevel.fpi.

I make no claim on the script. I make no claim on the concept. I'm glad that you've had much success with it. The original scripting was done by Habatar.

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=60401&b=23

I merely reconfigured it and posted it here.

The only recognition that I was referencing above, was in regards to the custom head images that I created and included in the above post. If they're used, I would like credit.

The scripting isn't mine. Habatar's script was posted 08SEP05. You weren't even here yet.

I expect no credit regarding anything you create. Please don't jump to the conclusion that I am. I don't appreciate the inference either. I'd kinda like that redacted.

Best of luck to you in all that you do.

Thanks,

Seth Black

Wasn't what I was saying. Just didn't want you to be like "Dang he's using that in 1.0.5 and didn't credit my scripting guru-ness(OK I made that word up)"

As for the script only thing that needs to be changed in it from the Hab version is the FPSC version in those first few lines. I'd added to his script to run other huds as well(On my newest hud the background is static and only the bar changes which leads to smaller file sizes then changing the whole hud like the Hab script was originally writen.

But I plan on giving credit to Habatar. We have a credits page scripted into the main menu just for this(makes the game look we have this huge team...kinda funny). Only thing I had to add was this line
Quote: "
;Hud Background
:state=0:hudreset,hudx=24,hudy=93,hudimage=gamecore\huds\playerhud.png,hudmake=display"

All you did really add some asterisk and change
Quote: "desc = Setup Wizard V100"

to
Quote: "desc = Setup Wizard V103"

and added:
Quote: ";Original Scripting by Habatar
;Rescripted by Seth Black"

Wouldn't really call that "rescripting"

Side note: you can also use:
Quote: "desc = Setup Wizard V105"

depending on your most current update.

My point is take credit for what you do. Seeing the "rescripted by" in that file bout made me come out of the chair laughing......Same thing as changing the color of the eyes on a texture...your not allowed to take credit for that either...

Just my opinion

Quote: "...step off"

Don't claim stuff that's not yours, and I have no reason for these types of post. People that take credit tick me off....So if you do it again, I'll be "stepping on".

One thing about me man....you may not like it...But I'm never wrong when I make these kinds of post. My moral compass is always pointing north, and less I'm banned, I'll always speak up when someone goes south. You can't control that.....Only the Mods can.

I'm through with the thread but I wasn't ending this on "step off" when you were in the wrong. Hope there's no bad feelings, but I'm really not caring if there is. I personally am always a little wary of people that do this even if amends is made. Quite often they only change up because they were called on it...

Good Gaming
