What is the best way to create maps for DBP?

All I am really looking for is maybe a list of file formats that DBP can handle best and a list of programs that are best for creating these formats.

I could probably figure this part out on my own but just in case could you also tell me how to load it into DBP?

hmm,
Yeah sorry I guess I should have been more specific.

I know that for models the most common file seems to be .X but I was wondering if it would be any different for a map,
or would I just use the .X format for that also?

If I could just use a .X file,
how would I handle the collision once I load it into DBP?

I would just use a BSP file for the map as I've heard DBP can handle the collision automatically,
but I've also heard that BSP maps are very buggy in DBP so I don't know if I should even waste my time.
