when my game start the screen is set the screen resolution 800,600,32 in my game i have options were the player can change the screen resolution to 1024,768,32. put when i click on it the game crashes. Is there a way to change the screen resolution when the game is running.

Direct X flushes the preloaded memory of certain media data when you do. In order to change resolutions you have to reload the media.

say you load 4 cubes and 3 textures.

If indi's suggestion doesn't help, you might consider NOT setting the rez to 800x600 by default.

Instead, let the user choose. To do this, don't use the Set Display Mode command until after the user has selected the screen rez (DB will by default use 640x480 for the selection screen).
