turn your volume down... x)

linky to program with media

just kind of a little project i use to test my theories on.

later i will be trying to add bodies of water... i think... and once i get a better world loading system (like more than one line) i will be able to light the character with more than one light source; right now it's just the sun.

muahaha!1

added terrain, fixed up the camera behavior, and made better clouds on a sphere instead of a plain.

i think i should get to work on water entities next...

I am awesome and always right.

Well, I might not be the most smart guy on the planet, but I'm pretty sure the title says:

And a little further in the thread:

Why are you asking, I ask myself...

Well out of curiosity as to just what it is you are testing I tried it. I'm not sure what it is you are testing still! It is a cone that moves on a very small map with slightly dodgy collision/physics and slightly odd controls. Not trying to put you off or upset you but I don't particuarly know what I am looking at.

I don't get it, why post it if you're not going to say what it is?

i know what i am doing with it

..

i am testing stuff with it... yes... like a system for water entities.. which i still have yet to get to work on been busy with a virtual rubiks cube lol.

Quote: "and slightly odd controls"

the controls wouldn't be so dodgy if you used a joystick or a gamepad

what i have to test next is how well Becoming the Archetype sounds in this project im going to dump the old band after having read the lyrics ..... but the thing is i can't find anywhere to download sample tracks just streamers.

Okay I'm not sure if heavy metal music would go with a cone sitting by the water...

I have an idea what it is, it's him trying to work though features of DBP, to learn things and come up together with a showcase tech demo, that has no playing purpose, but is what he ends up making it to be.

@Deathead: lol

@Seppuku Arts: Hmm... Maybe you're right. But why post it here? Why not post the completed ideas here instead?

It's not bad. You get kudos because i don't know how to do light mapping. Also the overall look is quite pleasing, although your world is a bit empty at the moment.
The controls are a bit odd because there doesn't seem to be a sidestep (?) in both directions. I recommend WASD rather than your choice because first of all people expect it, and are used to it, and secondly because it's good for avoiding keyboard clash.
Camera is far from perfect, and the physics are indeed slightly dodgy, although solid.
I want to see what this turns into.

Better yet I can remove keyboard control all together and stop you all whining about it.

There we are, all better now. linky

Criticisms, ideas, input, test users. Why do people post 3D models in 3D chat and unfinished game projects here?

update

hooray for fire animations and coronas

and even more dodgy play due to simple yet life-saving timer based movement

woohoo

i think i'll use sparky's collision now because my method is lagging up the game like a fat ho on overkill
