Ok, so I log onto my Skyline forum this morning only to find this message:

Quote: "
4.00am GMT :
Approximately 30 minutes ago, my home was raided by a combined operation by UK police and Interpol.

They allege that there have been numerous admissions for crimes on this forum, ranging from public speeding to reckless driving on UK and international roads. The provision of both written and video evidence has allowed them to compile, from what I have seen, a large amount of data to prosecute many members of this forum, including myself.

Our entire database and server has been confiscated at this point.

I will keep you updated, but naturally will ask you to refrain from any communication to avoid complicating this matter. Of the 11,500 members on this forum, they've asked for details of the following 458 members:

Showing Users 1 to 458 of 458:
.... list of users, including me!"

Sounds like a load of crap if you ask me. How could the police possibly prosecute members of a forum for writing "I did 150mph last night in a 30 zone", for example? There's no way in hell that'd stand up in court. Not only could the member say he was lying or making it up, but there's also no way to prove he made the post himself, as a mate could've been using his computer/account etc.

So I'm not worried. I don't believe I made any posts that mentioned me driving dangerously or speeding anyway. I have a suspicion there might be more to this - i.e. much more evidence against a few of the users, or perhaps the suspicion by the police of something far more serious on the owners computer equipment.

Anyway, found it kinda amusing I'm being investigated for criminal offences I don't remember commiting, or telling anyone about.

Depends on when he posted the news. If it was after 12pm, then hes the fool. You cant fool any one after 12pm, so I'm always safe, being I never get up before 12pm

surely the fact that he was posting the message on he website, despite the server being "confiscated" might have given it away?

on the other hand, people boasting about breaking the speed limit? The AUP and language filters prevent me from writing what I think of anyone who'd do such a thing.

I don't have a sig, live with it.

Looks like half the forum fell for it. I'm guessing lots of people hiding guilty secrets.

Chances are its set to display a list of random users and then your username in there at a random position, that way whoever views it, as long as theyre logged in, gets pranked. Try logging in with a different account and I bet that one will be in the list as well.

It's not a thread on the site anymore. It was like a splash screen, but he took it down at midday.

Yeah, he let everyone know it was April fools. I think a lot of people were very relieved - especially those that need their license for their job.

The 12pm rule is invented by people who are extremely gullible, and have had enough by lunchtime.

This is actually a repeat joke. I can't remember where, but I have seen it a couple of years ago.
