Not everyone has the luxury of having broadband in their area.
You could also use regular ethernet cables and a switch. This way, you can easily add more computers to your network. The simple solution though is to just use a cross-over cable.
I finally bought me some ethernet crimpers and a bunch of connectors, so I can make all the cables I want.
It's quite simple and a lot cheaper than having to buy a premade cable, plus you can make it any length you want.
