Hey,
I have Darkmatter 1, 2, and 3, and am using objects from each them for a little side project I'm starting. I can modify the darkmatter 2 textures and get them working perfectly fine. Now I want to modify one of the textures for a darkmatter 1 file, but I can't figure out what to open (if it can be opened) the texture file with to edit it. It's a .dds file, but the darkmatter 2 and 3 are bmp's. So, my question is, can you modify darkmatter 1 textures, or only darkmatter 2 and 3's?

You can edit DDS files in Photoshop if you download the Nvidia plugin. If you are not re-rigging the models, you need to save it as the same name and format. I re-rigged a couple of the DM1 models because the animations sucked. The plain skeletons in my GH videos are DM1 and the skeletal warriors are DM2.

Oh, ok. I don't have photoshop, but do my editing in Paint Shop Pro 9. Do you know if it's possible to edit them with that?

That doesn't work for PSP9, I believe they stopped support at v7.

Hmmm, alright, thanks. Do you happen to know of something that works for PSP9? Even if something works for paint (though I doubt it does), could I open it in that, change the file format, modify it in PSP9, then switch back to paint? I guess I can just live with the textures if there's now way to modify them.

You could completely change the texture with Ultimate Unwrap 3D. It is a fantastic piece of software, well worth the $60 it costs. Besides being a power UV mapper, it is the best 3D file format converter I've ever seen.
