So i was just curious, music can influence the most rationally sane person in the world to go @&*# nuts and rock out. So what do you guys listen to while you program or model or write or just chill out to.

1.Slayer
2.Lynyrd Skynyrd
3.Buckethead
4.Bob Seger,Eric Clapton
etc....

so what do you guys listen to.

Yeah, I cannot live without music while I work. For a few years I had a load of people to train and that totally sucked as I couldn't listen with headphones on (and not everyone likes music while working).

Personally I prefer all the classic metal and rock stuff, along with stuff like the Beatles and Rolling Stones (who doesn't?), mixed in with a few obvious programming *musts* (at least when I was in Uni) such as Vangelis and Jarre. When I want to get something finished I chuck something on like ACDC to really get the blood pumping. Prefer bands such as Metallica, Nirvana, GNR etc, but stuff like ACDC, MegaDeth, Skid Row etc are perfect for finishing stuff off and you are happy.

And now to listen to some Radiohead as I just came off holiday and am unhappy

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

Unfortunatly, I have many problems with multitasking, and becuase of this I can only do one thing at once if I expect to get anything done (IE when I program no TV, Music, nothing ). But, I often do take breaks to listen to something, which most of the time is either classical or stoner music (wierd match?). Also, my all time favourite song is In-a-gadda-da-vida, gets me into programming for some reason.

Kind of like my art teacher. When hes in meetings, he sketches while he listens. He says it helps him listen better.

I just noticed Zombie listed Buckethead! I saw Buckethead play with Primus during an Ozzfest one summer. I guess there were rumors that Buckethead was Larry LeLonde in disguise. (even though buckethead is like 12ft tall) So they decided to show them both on stage together to stop the rumors.

I'll list 10 of my favorite bands, and then post a little bit more info about nr. 1, 2, and 3...

My list:

1) Immortal
2) Mayhem
3) Dimmu Borgir
4) Satyricon
5) Windir
6) Six Feet Under
7) Nile
8) Opeth
9) Cannibal Corpse
10) Emperor

Immortal - At The Heart Of Winter:

Nicely done album!
Good contrasts and melodic/classical breaks!

If you like black metal, or melodic classical with a little twist, this is a must!

MayheM - Chimera:

This is one of the most sinister hardcore blackmetal you can get!
The song "Dark night of the soul" on this album, is THE must for all lovers of extreme music!

Dimmu Borgir - Enthrone Darkness Triumphant:

Nothing to say! Just listen to the album... One of secound wave-melodic black metal's greatest artifacts!

Thanks!

on... The power-metal band rhapsody can't use the old name Rhapsody, cus someone else wanted to use it for they're band, so they copyrighted it as they're own, cus Rhapsody Of Fire did not have copyright on they're old name...

edit:
Just realised that most off you are in to metal / rock, so mentioning infected mushrooms may make you mad, is it just here in denmark, or does all metal / rock fans hate techno kinda music ? . I relay don't get it, i like the metal / rock style off music to, just prefers techno in some cases

It depends, because techno is a slippery beast.

I don't just listen to metal, it's more that I find PJ, NiN, and Tool especially are great for when your needing to concentrate, but want some backing music.

If it's techno, for me it has to either astoundingly good, or be by The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin... I've really got no time for club music, we don't need no stinking DJ . I blame years of making techno crud in soundtrackers in the early 90's - must have had an effect on me .

I think that it depends on age, younger fans might think they have to be loyal, or stick to one genre for whatever reason - I probably thought gangster rap was the only type of music to listen to when I was young, might sound cheesy but IceT's messings with metal and techno did encourage me to check out different music genres. BodyCount rocked though, still worth listening to even if it does sound a bit dated these days.

I agree 100%, and you just listed the majority of techno I'll listen to. Add some Crystal Method, a little Daft Punk one in awhile, and select Moby songs and you got all the techno you need.

I hate all those "DJ's" out there who take an Ozzy song like Crazy Train, put an annoying repetitive beat over the original song, then call it a techno remix. No! Just no!
