Ok this is crazy... I'm chilling out in AIM and I type a message and after I send it I notice the word "gloom" and the beginning and im like ok thats wierd... I figured whoever was on the puter before left it on the clipboard and i like somehow pasted it. and i was like ok w/e...

but then like 3-4 messages later the same thing happened except this time it said "and doom" and i was like ok what the heck is going on here?? But now like every time I go to type something in the AIM window it adds Gloom or And Doom to the begining and I have to make sure to erase it before I send other wise im all like "gloom lol" "and doom thats kool" and yeah its ticking me off

im pretty sure its not a virus and ive never had it happen b4.... anyone have any thoughts???

erf! you use Norton ?
Poor you ...
Personally, with my past experience, I always noticed that Norton is like a ..."strainer" with viruses ...
Try Bit Defender, Kaspersky, ... good anti-virus softwares

Indeed, Norton has basically screwed my computer over before, I'm running a better security with freebies, Spybot, AVG and Sygate, download Spybot and use it to scan and remove any errors.

There is no BEST anti-virus. It's probably best to have and use a few. Some find things others wouldn't.

What about AVG-Cost Money, surely their paid for products will be better than their free one, otherwise it would be awful business for them Also, I'm sure there are AV's that would have permanently killed my Tojan when AVG stopped it attacking. I use it because it's reliable and free.

I had a strange and annoying virus of some sort once. My desktop icons would actually run away from my mouse cursor. It was very hard to click on them LOL.

Agent Dink, sounds like your comp was messing with you. "haha, AD, you can't catch me!" - AD's computer

Get rid of Norton, I'd found that it is very annoying; updates every day that take awhile, and it blocks a lot of multiplayer stuff. Spybot and AVG for the win!

Then you must have plenty of ram then, my computer would never be able to run that much security fluently.

I did a virus check lately on my old (very used, virus riddled) pc and it came up with 529 viruses of all ratings, as well as tons of spyware (spyware doctor) and ad-ware (adaware)! ... the hard drive boots only 1 in 10 times. Thank gawd I saved up for this new one.

You don't need to buy a new hard drive if it becomes infested with viruses Format.

What's wrong with Norton? I've been using it for a while and I really haven't had a problem at all.

I've never had any problems running Norton and the standard AIM client. I just don't download every file somebody sends me.

AVG is hardly better than Norton. Go research the comparitive tests. Norton works great, but can be a resource hog. Plus, I do hate the newer versions that for some reason need 2 tray icons and runs several processes. I had Norton 2000 but I lost my CD. I recently got Symantec instead, which is different from Norton. Its more of their corporate AV edition, less 'extra' crap installed with it.

You probably just have an AIM virus. Try a different client, such as Sciurus.

My parents are virus-paranoid, they got like the best norton package and ad-aware and anti-spyware whatever. About half the processes on their computer is related to norton in some way. It burns up so much memory, and it takes about 15 minutes from the time you turn the computer on to the time you can actually click on anything because it runs the norton scans...

And at that point its almost as bad as having a virus

I hate Norton. It intrudes on everything. I hate how Avast! Antivirus plays the red alert sound when you get a virus. lol

I got a virus before where when you try to click on the start menu it goes off screen. It was horrible. lol
