Soldat is one of the most addictive online multiplayer games I have ever played. Are there any fellow players in these forums?

If not then everybody should google "soldat" and download the addictive free online multiplayer game.

What I like about Soldat is that there are lots of gibs and you can use a chainsaw.

My favorite weapon is the "barret" sniper rifle, followed by the "spas" shotgun. I also sometimes use the MP5. I used to use the M79 a lot but it was so cheap I started pwning everybody and what's the fun in that? It is currently maintained that M79 is for noobs.

Soldat is 2D so pretty much any computer can run it.

I play it all the time...! =P

That's not true... Ragdoll physics, general physics, lightning efx, sound calculations, sprite post-computing and static player visibility system consumes a LOT of system memory and CPU..

Anyway, If you're over 600mhz, and have 256 ram, you'll be able to run it at medium gfx...

Higher spec's = High

Anyway: it's a really cool game! 2D action with all you need of weapons, blood, gore and adrenaline pumping action!
Really cool!

Your signature has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120....

I would much rather play Enemy Territory, that is also free and 3D, with many different mods you can download in minutes.

I used to play, but I don't have it installed right now.

The Barret is also considered cheap actually.

I'd say one of my favourite guns is the Ruger, I was always crap with the Spas. The SAW (M249?) is also pretty good if you click rapidly as you can maintain perfect aim that way, and if you're good you can get 5 kills a clip, possibly more. However they may have changed it since I last played.

Yeah, I still play it loads!

My favourite weapon is the Barret too, followed by the submachine gun, and my favourite secondary weapon is the Law, I hate the chainsaw. My name's tony on it, I might see you around!

I play Soldat now and then.
Reminds me of Tribes.
(Starsiege: Tribes was re-released as freeware a while back.)

Fav Soldat Load-out:
Ak-47 With M79 as Secondary (/Ditched pistal.)

Haven't played Soldat in a while though.

When I dream,
I carry a sword in one hand,
a gun in the other...

You know why I liked it - it was simple. You just picked it up and played it.

I miss games like that. Too many people use the bloom shader, etc just to make a game look nice. They forget that its a game and it should be fun. If I want something to look real, I'll go outside. If I want something to look pretty, I'll go to a park and stare and the flowers.

I completely agree with you. That's why I still enjoy playing the original Unreal Tournament rather than UT 2004.

The 2D aspect of Soldat is like a whole different game style.
