Hi, here are some images of in game action from FPSC X10.

We will soon be able to capture live video of the games too. When that's possible we'll post videos.

Development on FPS Creator X10 continues well. The eye candy effects powered by the NVIDIA GeForce 8 series can now be edited with simple sliders during test game mode. Today we’re able to send you some images of a new character that takes full advantage of the rendering techniques of Direct X10:

FPSCX10 Guards01.jpg
Normal mapped enemy guards in FPS Creator X10. Instancing and texture arrays allows users to fill a game level with many characters without affecting game play speeds.

FPSCX10 Guards02.jpg
The water refraction and reflection shader combined with the bloom effect makes FPSC X10 levels produces professional results.

FPSCX10 Guards03.jpg
Automatic soft shadows and the window refraction shader adds extra realism to your FPSCX10 games.

That's great, thanks for sharing.
Id like to see a stone wall, I want to see how it handles depth on bricks on the normal map, plus some specularity on it, then add some slight bloom as well, I want to see how close it looks to the offset engine.

so...stunned....reverting...to....primitive....n00b...talk...

ZOMG WTF OMG HTH AYBABTU LOL ROFLMAO NOOB X10 PWNAGE.

OK..... I finished now.

And gratz to bond, those models look even better ingame.

Would anyone want to buy my slightly edited thug model for £2000 so i can afford a PC that will run this??

E.D.

EDIT: Let's say i manage to get X10 and create a game, would it only work on the 8800 with vista?? Or would it cleverly export so it works on xp/lower level graphics card.

Cos even though those graphics are awesome, if people need that high specs just to play it, they're going to be expecting a lot more than that :?

Any 8000 series graphics card from NVidia will work. As Rick pointed out NVidia has just released its lower costing price line with the 8500, 8600.

OK, I have to say that I'm a bit angry here. You TGC guys aren't informing us of X9 developement. You aren't listening to our wishes for X9. Some of us have no gold in the backyard. We don't have money trees. So, I'm asking for THE FINAL TIME, please put X10 stuff into X9, like water, ragdolls, and shiny graphics.

Either that, or I'll walk away from this...this....this rudeness. If you keep us informed of the stuff for X9 ALSO, then we'll be happy. Remember, some of us don't have Vista, so start crackin' on X9, guys.

Sorry for that rant there, but I had to vent. I just get....tense, y'know.

I have an 8800 e-Geforce DDR3 640mb card, and I ran the FPSC x10 demo at 70 fps.

Only 1,024,mb of ram. (1.024gb)
And vista Home Premium.

It's all coming' together TGC, really fast.

The air hud is nice, and realistic.

@American Army

All i care about is the ragdoll for X9....... and FredP already announced they are working on that.

And just buy sprite pack 1 for water.

And the model packs for nice graphics.

Or ask Bond1 very nicely with your credit card.......

@ Red Stone Games
Well we were aiming for the end of April for the OEM version but this is likely to slip into May. We are close but there are a lot of small issues that come up when we implement our plans. I would say 98% is done, we just have a lot of clean up and polish to do.

@ Sly
Send me an FPM level and I'll load it up and take some screen shots for you. Make sure it's just using the stock media in FPSC.

@ American Infantry

We are a very small developer and can only work on one thing at a time. We are also in an area of software development which is a niece market. All this considered we are currently working on X10 and this is what we are focusing on. The benefits to X9 will be significant but we cannot bring those to you until X10 is complete.

I hope you can be patient and wait for us. I too find the process of development time consuming and costly. I feel we are winning now and the results will be good for all.

This evening I added around 20 copies of the alien monster into a level and it all ran sweet! DX10 is the future!

Monster looks good, but those standard sci fi segments have got to go, the normal map is way too flat, It looks like the standard nvidia plug in for photoshop has been used, that plug in sucks, use crazy bump, its free and is in beta test
http://www.crazybump.com/beta/download.html
its considerably better than the nvidia ps plug in.

That sci fi segment does no favours to showing of fpsc DX10 at all, its been used in all the pro-mo stuff and it isn't very good, I hope some other textures are used because it makes the screens look cheap.

I would get a texture artist in and get some decent textures for the segments, I wouldn't re use the old ones, new product, new look, bad art assets can make even the best engine look bad, and good ones can make an engine look amazing, for the price of what it costs for some new textures its cheap compared to what it will do for the product and its marketing.

If you need any for the product If you contact me Ill give you my details, I have 3000 textures left over from a game that didn't get signed, plus 500 odd sound FX, so If you are in need of assets give me a shout and we can work something out.

i seriously doubt the normal map is even applied to that wall right now, as well as the weapon. The normal maps look fine

it cant be as he asks what size the texture is, I notice on Johns site he has a fantasy pack coming out for fpsc, looks super, its great to see the range of genera's being expanded for fpsc. I hope we see a broad range of new assets for the new fpsc DX10 product.

What about projectiles that are more customizable than FPSC ver 1.xx.
And for decal animations, can we use more than 16 frames, and/or use avi animations for our custom particles?
This new FPSC X10 looks good so far.
And for cutscenes, just wondering if there will options to use certain codecs for videos such as DIVX, so it would have better quality than Ver 1xx?

I need vista, X10 & an X10 Graphics card before I am happy.

And will we be able to open X9 projects in X10 and continue with them in X10? So if you wanted to make a game in X10 you could do all basic stuff in X9 then when you get X10 continue in that.

@MickM I know that you can get cheaper graphics cards now.... it's just that so many people are on XP it would be nice to create games that run on XP.

Take Just Cause for example, I believe that used a lot of the "new" features that FPSC X10 is giving us.

@Screwed Over
Yeah but it's better than nothing.

@RickV
The first screeny of that run of 3 scared the (word) out of me.

P.S. Get my slightly edited thug model for a discount £1000 pounds now (I found a machine that will run X10 for that much )

Astounding Rick, I hope this is what we can expect in DBProX10.

Looks like I gotta learn to love normal maps, if they can make models look that cool then everyone and their dog will be using them before very long.

I'll have to try Crazybump, but I'm sure Bond used proper high res models to render the normals, they look better than the usual converted bump map at least.

Excellent!
The models, the water, the air ( I hope we can change the airVARs value manually in a script as well and not just as related to being under water as an internal function--- then I could make it gold or whatever instead of just air), the reflections, the shadows, basically everything is smoking hot.

I can't wait, but I want to wait.
We know what happens when a release is rushed so you guys take all the time you need.

P.S.
I hope those monsters have a few melee animations. (hint hint hint --- that's right, I will always yell for melee)

I downloaded and installed Crazybump.
I got the following error:

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

I had the .NET Framework version 1.1 installed on my PC before I even downloaded it.

Any ideas?

Might it need more work?

Rick V,
The shots look really good the way they are. Good work. Cant wait to get rich so I can afford to get the same results.

By the way Rick V. did you get my email about that software I didnt get?

the pictures looks nice Rick but i'm not wasting 1000$ (that's 3750 R.S in my country)just to get this engine especially if the games won't support at least most video cards.

no offence TGC but i've seen better effects in DirectX9.

Can you maybe make it so the characters can aim up and down please? That is the thing that bothers me most in X9 I'ts so... noticable too. I mean the ragdoll animations are there already so couldn't you use those? (I'm no animation expert though lol)

I have a new PC here just waiting to have digital orgasms over this stuff. It all looks beautiful. few questions

1) will the fog/smoke entities have an FPE style file that can be customised?

2) Will animations still be hard coded to the engine, or will custom animations now be more compatible?

3) Will water have an FPE style file? is it added using a marker or a zone?

4) will dual weild be extended to the enemy biped? using 2 vweaps?

5) Will alt-textures be available for enemies? This would be great for changing damage effects... if not, will there be damage decals for character entities?

6) I'm intrigued by how the ragdoll thing works.. does it initiate rag doll at the end of the death animation? if so that opens up some great possibilites for cool death anims, or is it just that the entity "goes ragdoll" when it's health reaches 0.

6b) will ragdoll only be compatible with characters using the stock biped, or will it apply to custom animated characters too?
cheers...! Its looking great guys, can't wait to see more.

1) You would be getting more than just the engine for $1000
2) It wouldn't be a waste. Well, maybe in your case.

unreal engine 3.
offset engine.
Jupiter Ex
Gamebryo
plus many others, yes I know they are primo expensive, but they do have better effects and are DX9

instancing is done in C4 engine as well.

They need to fix the amount you can mod the engine not just the graphics, my ideas are being shot down as Im finding its limiting what you can do, its a real shame as I love the little guy, so id love to see a big project come out of a 30 quid engine, boy that would make me laugh, the industry needs a great big kick in the backside, the idea that a good game could come from a engine written in basic that sells for 30 quid, very funny, but will it ever happen.
