Right, I've just started to look at DarkBASIC for my project in college, in which I'm creating a simple 3D game. I know programming fairly well as I've covered Java, C++ etc but this is the first time I've looked at DarkBASIC.

All I'm looking for in my game is a level where I have a few enemies for my character to shoot at and kill, so just basically the simplest game possible. The game will be a first person shooter where all I'm looking to see is my characters gun on the screen.

I've got up images I already want for the matrix and the sky etc, due to finding simple ones in college and various other places but having only looked at DarkBASIC over the last week or so, I'm wondering as to where you get images for the enemies, gun etc? This may be a stupid Q but I have to ask.

Also, any other tips about how to go about this kind of game will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you checked out the DarkBasic\Media folder?

When you install DB, lots of models, animations, bitmaps, SFX and music files gets installed there.

The only other alternative is to buy a model add-on pack.

DBP might not give you the OOP wings you had before in C++ / Java however you will find a pleasant tradeoff to functionality for feature usability. There are some dark corners to this language, its fun poking around in the dark sometimes as it creates a mystical experience DBP's forum allows everyone to catch what code gems people create and find.

try the 3d game maker and make a custom scene as this sounds about what your looking for. If you want to do actual coding then ofcourse get dbc, or db pro
