I was looking at the gallery page:
http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=gallery

Has anybody els here notice that a lot of the screen shots seem very underated? I mean I see great work thats rated a 2/6. Do people get a kick out of giving crappy ratings?

Yeah I think it's most probably jealously rearing it's ugly head. Or maybe people expect too much from an Indie developer and think because it doesn't look as good as some of the AAA titles out there it only deserves 2 stars.

Well, I'm not going to brag about my screenshots in there, but they are worthy of 2d commercial quality, and I don't get good ratings either. I think it's most likely because my game doesn't look incredibly fun in the shots, but really it is about as fun as a typing game can get.

This is the exact reason why having anything community related especially votes is a very bad idea.

@Dark Coder - as much as I agree with this in some respects, I dont in many others. There are ways TGC could get around this. Eg, when someone votes the "value" of the vote is determined by the average vote of that user. Eg, if some idiot goes around voting 1/5 for everything then scale their votes up as they "tend" to undervote. Same for people doing 5/5 all the time (scale down). Also - other sites dont have this issue. Maybe they could implement an admin section which monitors people's average votes. If they notice some idiot voting low for everything a mod could clear their votes or noob-slap them?

The main problem i had with the screen shot system is that during the Nvidia compo it kept showing me 1 certain persons screenshots and not a fair random spread!

By the way TCG when am I gona ge that $30 voucher?
