Apparently you can get devices that allow you to read what is on other people computer screens. No hacking, no nothing. Just a piece of hardware that plugs into your PCI slot.

Yeah im pretty sure thats not possible... what would having a flat screen have anything to do with it? I think the only thing that would make it possible would be if it was a wireless monitor and u could pick up the signal... but thats not what it claims to be able to do so im pretty sure its fake... not positive though.

How do you think TV licence vans work?

They can sit outside your house a prove you have been watching TV without a licence

I guess the way to stop this is to provide metal shielding around the monitor and earth it (like PC cases do).

The tempest method is very real, CRT based and Its well documented for years and years.
Now that they can find LCDs as well is scary

This is in fact very possible. Although, it was news to me when I saw slashdot's article mentioning they've done it with LCDs now.
