This kind of follows on from Indi's post 6 weeks ago

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070424-amiga-inc-announces-new-hardware.html

Althought they're not hardware gaming rigs, they are "cheap" and quick...
Quote: "Amiga Inc., the company that purchased the rights to the Amiga line of computers back in 1999, has risen from its perpetual slumber to announce a new line of PowerPC-based computers that will run Amiga OS. The first machine will be a "consumer-level" system that will run at around $500, to be followed up with a more powerful system for $1,500. Manufacturing information, availability, and detailed specifications are promised to follow next week."

edit: Oh, and for the Digg users,

Wierd... It would be nice to more contenders when it comes to unique operating systems and hardware. They say it will be running an Amiga OS, well, more power to them!

There have been "promised" Amiga systems for a long time. Don't hold your breath.

Well it is good news, if they do pull it off, you never know after a couple of years after they return, they may try to compete against Microsoft and Apple.

I thought Commodore had completely closed down years ago. Amazing. Still, they don't own the Amiga brand or chipset anymore so they don't really have anything going for them - unless they start making C64's again

Or you could always pull an Atari, and create the ST, when your designers take the Amiga away from you.

We all know Amiga has a solid next-gen history---- I mean, look at the CD32. On second thought, don't.
