Well this is just weird - I slept through it! Admittedly I live on the other side of Kent, but supposedly people in Essex and Suffolk heard it too!

I didn't know there were any fault lines that were "earthquake capable" near the South East of the UK...

Yep, some time ago my gramps helped fix the base of a church that was damaged by an earthquake a few centuries ago, I think the fault line runs near it.

Blimey, hope no one got hurt, judging from all of the gas leaks, I hope none of them are in the retirement hope where my Nan is, she can barely walk.

There was one around Nottingham about 5 years ago now i guess. It was a bit underwhelming, it felt like a really heavy truck going past, although i heard that it knocked a few plates off people's walls closer to the epicentre. Looks like that one was a bit more destructive.

now the inevitable joke; An earthquake destroyed hundreds of homes in Kent this morning; Experts say the damage could run into tens of pounds!

EDIT: looking at the article, I guess it was the Melton Mowbray one I felt

I don't have a sig, live with it.

I didn't but I heard about it on the news, how serious was it?

I just saw that on the news. 4.7 on the richter scale, surprised you could sleep through that.

Then again, I've slept through a thunderstorm or two.

Quite odd, my uncle said he didn't hear/feel it, and he was down in Dover for bird watching, right in the epicenter. Guess a lot of people slept through it.
