I remember making a Spider Man model awhile back, the store selling the models around me went out of business awhile ago. I agree, GatorHex, most people wouldn't want to put a model together only to put it on a shelf; the way of the lazy is the way of the future.

This is the last thing i built and the reason I've gone off building robo kits, but even in R/C the trend is towards lazy pre built kits!

If you build your own R/C kit you will know how to fix and modify it

I'm not old fashioned, and I can make a 1200 part model in less time then to make a good 3D model

Modify it? It still has a mechanical speed controller, for goodness sake! Plus, I can see that the suspension springs may crush (and short) the motor wiring.

Since the other one was scaring you guys so much...

thats the last one i did, 1/144 scale (it's 1 and a 1/4 crayola crayons tall)

right now i'm working on Wing Gundam 0, 1/144 scale

i want to do one of the larger models, but none of the hobby shops around me carry them...they used to, but now all they carry is WWII models? wtf

I said you COULD modify it if you built it u know how it works and hot to improve it, not that it was modded.

I built it for somone else on a tight budget with all the cheapest parts.

This is mine, with height adjustable suspension

anyone else got an R/C and wana show it?

I'm too ashamed to post my stock Stadium Thunder. Especially after I accidentally drowned it in the beach years ago when it went beyond the reach of my radio.

How much is a gas R/C nowadays?

@GatorHex,

Really sweet!!!

Yeah the one you did for your friend, reminds me of my first Grasshopper II from 15 years ago. Not much has changed in the basic kits. What would annoy me, is the stock suspension usually gets stuck at the most inopportune times, and grit get's on that speed control mech. If I kept the baloon on it, it would stick the speed control. I also stripped the heck out of the nylon gear-boxes when I upgraded the motor.

I've got a Tamiya Twin Detonator, sprayed gold. It is awesome. It uses two 540 electric motors, all electric RC gear, and has differential.

As for modelling being a dieing art that’s a awful shame I have been modelling as long as I have been gaming (basically all my life) but truth be told I find building ww2 stuff so dull now what I really want to do is make models of game characters I would love for there to be a model based of the halo 2 scarab or warthog or metal gear or a colossus from shadow of the colossus now that would be grand

Making model kits is kinda boring. To me, there's no creativity involved. I'm just making something that other people have made 1000 times over. If I'm designing a model from scratch (like a custom lightsaber hilt or something) then it's alot of fun, because I am making something I thought of, not something that's sold in a store to 1000's of other people.

I have no signature...
