Sculpted primitives in Second Life

Looks like some weird form of reverse normal mapping... Instead of lighting a model like a higher detailed model, it seems to be deforming a prim to match a higher detailed model

i carnt view the thingie, but from what you sed it sounds like a desplace modifier. a texture desplases a mesh.

It looks likes simple created primitives with smoothing and a texture to me.
The external selection yellow lines remind me of a cartoon effect.

It looked like the original model was a medium polygon model. They were just deforming the mesh with what looked like real time editing tools and preset shapes that used the original's polygon and texture mapping structure. It looked interesting, but I'm not sure where they're going with it.

The images they were using sort of worked like heightmaps and they were deforming the model with it. It's pretty cool, however, I don't really see a point unless you can do that in real time without severely compromising framerate. You could make some cool looking fluid or wobble effects.

If they're sculpted shapes, I'm assuming, they're using bump maps as displacement maps, that you could apply in apps like Cinema 4D as a material, but more recently you've been able to displace/sculpt manually in apps like Zbrush, Silo, Hexagon or Modo.

Did The Buddha have a Zen micro?
