The other day I got in some pretty bad trouble for tying a knot that is supposedly illegal to tie (a noose knot actually). I tied it in a 15 or so inch piece of rope so im obviously not going to kill someone with it. But in any event... He said as he was yelling at me that the noose knot is illegal to tie. Is that true? I cant imagine there being any sort of laws reguarding the legality of knot tying. Look at this link:

http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/title_search.pl?keyword=knot&title=uscodes

The only 2 results on "knot" have to do with the knot on the Medal of Honor and I forget the other one but it has nothing to do with tying a noose lol.

Like I said... I cant imagine there being any sort of laws reguarding legal knots. Thats absurd. But since the guy I got in trouble with is sort of in charge of me (i.e. outrank) I want to be pretty darned sure that I know what I'm talking about before I go off and accuse him. Lol.

Thanks in advance!

LOL. That sounds kind of ridiculous to me... I'm sure a noose knot can be used for other things too. Who is this guy yelling at you?

Yeah, you can hang people with any knot you want, you can hang someone with a simple little yo-yo knot. I don't see why they'd illegalize the noose knot. That sounds just plain stupid to me.

I vote stupid too. Sounds absurd with an illegal knot.

Are spoons illegal? They CAN be used to eat non-edible things and even poison.

See if you can find it illegal on this site:

http://www.dumblaws.com/

Although, as far as I know it only covers the US.

LMAO thanks I agree with u guys, especially what Agent Dink was saying... but then again, its the same people that want to make guns illegal and I have some pretty strong opinions on that. But we wont go there

He's my Petty Officer in the US Navy. We were doing a knot tying class and I had already learned them all from a few other classes so I was just sitting around messing with the ropes they handed out and I like just decided to make a noose knot and I was sliding it around and some kid saw it and tried to duplicate it. Of course the PO saw his attempts and started yelling at him and I was like oooo crap. And of course he found out it was me that was making them. And he got all "I DONT EVER WANT TO SEE THAT KNOT AGAIN! IT IS *ILLEGAL* TO TIE THAT KNOT AND I DONT EVER WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!"

And I wanted so bad to just be like "Ummm its not illegal" but then im like yeah what if it IS then im in it deep. So I thought it best to get some other opinions before I confronted him about it Ima check that dumblaws site now

Hmm didn't know the noose knot was illegal, well it's probably not here, well I guess I can carry on making them, reminds me, my brothe'rs secret santa was a barbie doll, so he hung it in the stockroom where he worked, and gave her a little make over

There is an Untrue Urban Legend that it is illegal to tie a Hangman's Knot with 13 coils.

It cannot possibly be illegal, or every fisherman in the world would be in prison. They use the same knot to tie lines.
