You never played GRAW Gil?
I like the idea of multiplayer campaigns, really it's a lot of fun to tackle missions as a team, there's a lot of annoyances with BF2 (spawn killing helicopters for instance), so going against the CPU as a team is a refreshing change. Not that I play too many Tom Clancy games, but they bring something fresh to the genre every time.
If anything, I'd say that the CoD franchise should have tackled vietnam first, there's still a lack of good nam shooters - despite the spurge of games we had a few years ago. Personally though, I long for the original BF1942 gameplay, if they modernized that engine then I'd certainly buy it all over again.
The only FPS I'm actually looking forward to is the Lost game, using the Farcry engine (nothing else would do the job IMO), should be a really intruiging and involved plot, there's a few million people just itching for that one!. I doubt it'll have that much shooting action, it's gonna be more about character interaction and puzzle solving I'm sure (go here to get some dynamite to blow the hatch door here, while avoiding polar bears, smoke monsters, and weird French chics with crossbows.
