What do you guys think? Should they stay in WWII? Should they go into another old war(WWI, etc.), or what? The game dose look nice. But I'm gonna miss their WWII Games.

Looks good, but I wasn't impressed with CoD 3 for PS2. Maybe they can redeem theirselves here . I don't think they should have stayed with WWII, there's only so much you can do with one war, and they did it.

It won't be the same, but it's cod, so they'll do it right. My only concern is if it will be more like cod2 or cod3, two being the better imo.

omg, i cant believe they are doing this. the new owners of CoD are ruining it. CoD3 was great, had its flaws. i was hoping they would fix them in CoD4, but its not even WWII any more!!! it just looks like a BF2 remake

Part of the charm in CoD is that it's all WW2 stuff, if we want modern combat, well there's the Battlefield games which are kinda untouchable.

I'd actually rather see more WWII shooters than another BF2 - there's a PS3 game that is exactly like BF2 as well, we're gonna end up with a saturated market. We have GRAW for more technical gamers, we have BF2 for online multiplayer fun, CoD fitted in as a good campaign game - no reason to change themes IMO.

I do hope they make BF2142 for the 360 though, been playing a lot of BF2 on the 360, I think the BF2 Live players would eat 2142 alive!.

As I'm still wowing at last generation technology, this looks fricking awesome, despite that COD for me did it with WW2, but I haven't played modern war based games, might be interesting...Hopefully I'll be hip and cool with the technology for it, even if it will be a while yet.

That's only three....

Actually, I think they could do really well to stay with WWII, or at least some WWI.

Nooo there are too many WW II shooters. Waaayy too many. There's one being announced every other week. It's great that they're trying something new.

There are no new owners...Treyarch did CoD2: Big Red One, and CoD3, but Infinity Ward is doing CoD 4.

I agree that BF2 is great (one of my favorite games), but it's multiplayer. I've never played a good, single player modern combat game.

You never played GRAW Gil?
I like the idea of multiplayer campaigns, really it's a lot of fun to tackle missions as a team, there's a lot of annoyances with BF2 (spawn killing helicopters for instance), so going against the CPU as a team is a refreshing change. Not that I play too many Tom Clancy games, but they bring something fresh to the genre every time.

If anything, I'd say that the CoD franchise should have tackled vietnam first, there's still a lack of good nam shooters - despite the spurge of games we had a few years ago. Personally though, I long for the original BF1942 gameplay, if they modernized that engine then I'd certainly buy it all over again.

The only FPS I'm actually looking forward to is the Lost game, using the Farcry engine (nothing else would do the job IMO), should be a really intruiging and involved plot, there's a few million people just itching for that one!. I doubt it'll have that much shooting action, it's gonna be more about character interaction and puzzle solving I'm sure (go here to get some dynamite to blow the hatch door here, while avoiding polar bears, smoke monsters, and weird French chics with crossbows.

Nope, admittedly I haven't. I've thought about it, but the only Ghost Recon game I've bought (Ghost Recon 2 for PS2) sucked, so I subconsciously associate GRAW with GR2 (even though I shouldn't). I may have to try it out soon, it's received good reviews, I'm just being stubborn .

Why not just make a seperate franchise for your futuristic shooters? I'd love to see more WWII from CoD, because with each one the system gets better, they're able to advance and experiment with new features which in the end makes just about every shooting franchise better when they use those features.
