NOTICE: Gimp, or Photoshop Imageready are two good programs that can be used for this. You can do it in flash, but it does strange stuff when exported into a GIF.

And for those of you who don't have the programs to do animations, do not fear.
Gimp is a free, open source cross-platform image editor that supports GIF animation.

Link:
http://www.gimp.org

Anyway, what can YOU do with only 2 frames of animation. I know, I know, alot of you are thinking "Not much at all...". But a GIF loops, right? Right!

For example, this would be a proper two-frame animation:

Notice that this is only 2 frames, looping (Plays frame 1, then 2, then resets and plays 1, then 2, so it really is 1, 2, 1, 2 for infinity or until your computer blows up) as a GIF.

Lets try to stay humorous, so we get a laugh.

I'll start off:

Lets see what you can do!

The Person99 awards go to: 1. Jack the Ripper for hardest crime scenes. 2. Peter Petrelli for most powers. 3. Superman for longest flight. 4. "The Doctor" for best time travel machine.

Very true, but not many people live in flash. Plus, for a simple 2-frame animation, a program with things like smudge would be best.

Cool animation though.

GAHH! MICROSOFT! I hate that company name.

I use Gimp.

Photoshop costs an arm, leg and ear, gimp is free only has 2/3rds of the filters. And that is pretty much the only difference, filters.

What can the Microcrap gif animator?
(Note: I just don't like microcrap )

Edit: My images are visible, right?

www.gimp.org

Gimp is free, and awesome.

Step one:

Create a single image without frames. I recommend you just start with a stickman waving on a white backround.

Step two:

Layer->Duplicate layer

Step three:

Use tools to make the second frame. Make sure it will match with a loop.

Step four:

Export as a GIF WITH ANIMATION. (Make sure you check animations.)

Step five: Upload it somewhere online

Step six: Post it!

The Person99 awards go to: 1. Jack the Ripper for hardest crime scenes. 2. Peter Petrelli for most powers. 3. Superman for longest flight. 4. "The Doctor" for best time travel machine.

please, there is a lot more then filters where photoshop pwns the gimp.
open source cannot do everything, pantone colours as one tiny example, which eliminates any gimp work for true print matching.

Ah, and the select tool. Photoshop has the neat pixel select tool, gimp does not, making it very hard to take a person from one image and stick them in another.

But Photoshop also costs an arm, leg and ear.

Gimp is free.

Jimmy, that rocks!

It is cool, Manic, but please keep the threads name and use two frames .

Here is another one I just made:
Bad brakes on ice

I still like my rocket one, the stick-picks, and the yellow drummer. Out of all of these 2 framers that have been shown, which one do you guys like best?

yeah, sorry- I'm too full up with work to do anything especially for this thread (yes even two frames), so i just thought I'd stick something up that nearly met the requirements that I'd happened to have done already.

I don't have a sig, live with it.

I have a fantastic idea of what to do with only two frames of animation, but I'd get banned forever. Too bad...
