Ok,so on my computer,it says my integrated intel graphics draws 224mb out of System memory. is it possible to stop this? Say if I install a new gpu,will the intel card(I do not think you can take it out) still draw 224mb from the system memory?

You can disable the integrated chipset from the BIOS, usually.

Ok,this question isn't related to gpu,and luckily my computer problems are coming to an end,but I do need to know one thing. What does a modem do and do I need a pci 56k fax modem for road runner internet? I mean,what do I need to get on the internet? Thats basicly what my question comes down to.

Road runner is a Broadband service. So No you can disable the modem. You will need an ehternet/Lan card. That's what you will connect to your cable/dsl modem.

A modem is a Modulator/Demodulator. It's basically for communicating via regular telphone lines (dial up access). It has a maximum speed of 56K but most of the time they connect at 28.8-36.x baud rates.

Actually, it has a maximum speed of 57.6k, but the rest was spot on.

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Well you don't have to have ethernet for the internet, most external modems should come with a USB cable, that's how I'm running my broadband.

In my experience the USB connection is much slower than an actual LAN card. But you are correct.

Technically, most phone lines only handled 53k anyway, unless they were upgraded or have newer houses.

@Benny,
To put it simply, you only need a modem for dial-up services which use a regular phone cord. For road runner, you connect your network card using an ethernet cable (looks like phone but bigger) to an external broadband modem that road runner will issue to you.
