I encountered this problem before but I want to know so I can start making my own, or at the very least editing some freebies from the Turbo Squid site.

About what size (X-Y-Z) does a character have to be in order to match up with the stock media in FPSC?

Well, i would recommend making a character and putting it into fpsc. If it is too small, make it bigger, if it is too big, make it smaller.
