I know the game engine keeps track of everything you pick up... is there a way to view that list?

I think the game engine only tracks by entity names.

But you could use scripts and Huds to emulate an inventory.

Realistically, you'll only have to write enough lines of script to display all the collectable items in your level. I doubt you'll have 1000 items in one level. Most games have less than 50. I'd guess 10 for a good average.

but you would need multiple lines for each item; plus making it all appear and dissapear by a scancode pressed button. This is probably possible, but would be 100-300 lines of script.

then I guess there's no way to select those items by scancode either huh?

Well... there is a way.... but most people won't write 100 lines of script for one request .

if you want that to happen too... then that would be a very very long script.
