I've heard about this digital wiretap being in discussions, but I wasn't aware it's actually been legally approved. This is a big step on our rights I think.

Whoa, that's scary. Pretty soon we're going have cameras in our houses just to make police work easier. Of course, we'll all nod and smile because we're all being protected.

I honestly don't care. If your not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about, and I will have wasted a government officials valuable time by them listening in on my boring life. If you are doing something wrong, then I'm glad they can catch you easier. I've never understood the whole obsession with privacy (to a certain extent at least, I can understand not wanting a camera in your bathroom or anything ) .

I personally don't care if I have cameras in my house... in a perfect world... However this isn't a perfect world, people are corrupt and have their own agendas. Governments are NOT looking out for the best when it comes to cameras and phone taps and all that.

I have no signature...

I just love the way governments introduce statutory laws. You have to comply, and they charge you to do it! Talk about growing money.

Of course, the law enforcers will jump into action with this newfound freedom, and locate all of the spammers and virus-generating script-kiddies first. It's the no-brainer, they have basically been given the keys to their properties.

I wonder how this affects the rest of the world? If my packets get directed via the US, which effectively I have no control over, will they get snooped too? Does this allow America to spy on the whole world?

It's not a matter of having something to hide or not, its basic rights of privacy. It's not the government's business what I do, who I talk to, or what I say.

Only if your ISP is based in America. I'm sure AOL won't have a problem giving out customer info.

I agree that *some* good can come out of it, but its not worth the loss of freedom.
