@Agent Dink,
Your suggestion is logical, and should be tried (as you are correct about the settings), but I have found that usually when this happens if not done manually (either intentionally or unintentionally through the mouse options) the settings will all appear normal. I've even gone through the entire registry looking for anything and using .reg fixes to return the mouse to normal without success.
I have observed the mouse:
- double-clicking instead of single.
- right-clicking when left click is pressed. and right-click operates as usual. This is most common when trying to launch desktop shortcuts.
- The mouse options will all appear normal, and the device manager reports no problem with the device.
I'm not sure how/why, although I know it's web-browsing related, but it seems as though the device driver gets messed up somewhere else. Since removing the mouse and letting windows Auto-detect it solves the problem so quickly, I gave up on my attempts to delve into the problem further. I'm still baffled about where the problem lies, and all of my inquiries get the response to reinstall.
Perhaps one day I'll actually find the root of the problem.
