Nice Kirby model, looks a lot like the original, so what's the game play style like, platformer?

Cool model. What sort of abities to you plan to add, and is the a side scroller or full 3d?

A full 3d would be awesome. Nice model, too. I'm guessing it's fully animated?

Yes it's fully animated

I made a UI. Go me. Now I need to add some buttons and health bars and stary county things and enemies and AI scripts and a main menu and intro movie and game selection and nudity! Lots and lots of nudity!! ... no.

Anyway I have completed a border for the thingy with a light and dark orange checkerboard and a wooden thingy at the bottom for where to put all the crap.

sounds good. But you seemed to have missed my post, because you didn't answer any of the questions I asked...!

What sort of abities to you plan to add, and is the a side scroller or a fully 3d platformer?

Sorry for the bold, just wanted to make sure you didn't miss it.

Then I'll do that now

Quote: "What sort of abilities to you plan to add"

Well, for one thing I think it all depends on the issue that in most public schools, for all intents and purpose they're being run under communism by teaching students to conform to set beliefs, and not to think individually or apart from what is being reported by the media. This is one of the reasons why I think that public schools need to give more authority, responsibility and respect back to the parents. In effect this would bring back stronger, more equipped leadership to ensure future national security in America.

Quote: "Is it a side scroller or a fully 3d platformer?"

It's a side scroller.

It looks nice like that crystal shard kirby game.

Thanks. The first response is... [puts coding hat back on], but the game looks very promising now that I know a bit about it. I like the UI.

Nice, what effect is that? And could you not replace pics in the middle of the thread? Sorry, it's just that I wanted to compare the two. and it's boring to see the same pic three times rather than an actual visual track of the progress.

Ghost object's like a buggy add blend. You may notice errors if you put one in front of the other for some unknown reason.

Err, yeah. I can see that... I meant what game effect is it. This would be a lot simpler if you could explain a bit more.

Of course.

But that should have blown him forwards, not backwards.

Seriously Image All, please post something a bit more useful when you update. All the images are great, but It would be nice if you could explain what we're seeing.

How do you know so much about Kirby biology? If it's capable of sucking in a mammoth/goat genetic crossover, heck, it can have a bum on its face!

That would taste aweful.

It's not a fart you see in that pic that's the current goal thingy that in which you jump musteth. Except as of now I haven't started any event handling so it does nothing

When you said effect the only thing I'm thinking is graphical effect. Whatever else you may label as an "effect" probably won't fit in my extremely literal vocabulary

meh. Added some new feces/faces for kirby to be swapped dynamically, so now he blinks when he lands and has this silly little smirk on his utterly annoying mug until he jumps and it becomes a :D.

Now to add some entities and a revamped level loading function so I can place stars, boxes and enemies where I want them. Then I'll add a waypoint thing so that kirby can walk on a path that has a bit of depth change in it.

Update

Added some getable things. The course seems to have darkened a bit through 3DWS but it's well worth being able to place cake where I need it

And yay a demo linky.
Although death and winning have yet to be implemented... also a bit short on sound effects... I tried making some but simply could not get anything which sounded right to be kirby walking or hitting a wall.

Thanks for the more detailed explanation, and the demo!

I also meant graphical effect, but ghost object is just how you made it transparent. What I meant was I thought it was an explosion of something, and was curious about it.

I tried the demo, and want to say that is a really awesome animation. Kirby feels extremely squishy and organic, and it's awesome.

I have 2 suggestions:
1) When he hits the fire, you see the whites of his eyes. This just looks bad, because he has no whites. I recommend doing something like this (. .) , because it achieves the same effect without making him look bad.
2) Make it so you can't just hold down the spacebar and have him keep jumping. Like so he only jumps once each time you press it.

This looks really good so far.

I'm curious, do you plan to give Kirby the ability to fly? and do you have any ideas what kind of abilities he'll be able to absorb?

I'm not done with Kirby yet... He does still need to fly and to suck. well, he already sucks, I mean he needs to eat things.

Yeh, money is a festering thing and I'd be glad to be rid of it.

mhm. Haven't really worked much on it, got a bit lazy, all I really did recently was take away the whites of his eyes (even though I did see Kirby with eyewhites in the N64 during a cutscene >.>) and make pain a whole bunch better; he flies away from it now.

I liked the original Kirby's Dreamland, but I don't like the latest ones. You should Kirby in a Vietnam War game

Ok I finally made an update I'm sorry it took so long.

I've added a titlescreen and game selection screen... It doesn't really select a different game file, I haven't implemented that just yet, but it launches the game fine. I have a bit of work to do to free up the level system so that I can manipulate one big mission full of data describing which levels to go to after the next etc. Then I'll be able to implement game saves.

Here's a download...
